FIRMA LANGEN & WOLF IN WIEN.

Combined rege) and inlet valve for gas engines.

The subject matter of the present invention is a combined regulating and inlet valve for gas engines, by means of which a compact arrangement of the required gas and air inlet organs is achieved, the back pressure of the regulating valve on the regulator is reduced and precise regulation is to be achieved for all loads on the machine.

The drawing shows the subject matter of the invention in an exemplary embodiment. The arrangement is such that the axes of a control valve R designed as a double seat valve and an inlet valve E consisting only of a simple cone valve coincide and the seat and thus the stroke of one valve coincide with that of the other is opposite. The two-seat event. l R, the stroke of which can be changed according to the performance of the machine, regulates in approximately the same mixing ratio on the one hand the entry of air through an air supply line L and on the other hand the influx of gas through a gas supply line G. The inlet valve E, whose stroke is constant, closes the valve chamber from the combustion chamber V.

The mode of operation of this valve is as follows: When the inlet valve E is opened during the suction stroke of the machine, when the double-seated control valve R is raised, gas is sucked in from the gas supply line G on the one hand and air from the air supply line L on the other. Both bodies mix in a mixing channel M and the mixture passes through the inlet valve E into the combustion chamber V.

The advantages that are achieved by this arrangement are that, on the one hand, as a result of the relief caused by the double seat valve, the force for lifting the control valve can be kept as small as desired, and on the other hand, by arranging the control valve directly above the inlet valve, the space between the two valves is reduced to a minimum, which is advantageous for precise regulation, especially with low loads. In addition, when the fillings are small, the control valve is pulled onto its seat by the suction effect, so that a tight seal is possible without the need for the inlet valve's spring to be particularly strong.
