Der Rohrstutzen h nimmt weiters ringsherum vorgesehene und um Drehachsen p verschwenkbare, lange Stachel q auf, deren gegen den Netzbeutel zu gerichtete Spitzen dadurch zusammengedrängt werden, dass den Stacheln q je zufolge eines an einem kurzen Hebelarm sitzenden Gewichtes r ein Drehmoment in diesem Sinne aufgedrückt wird. Um die Tauchtiefe des Fanggerätes, insbesondere bei seiner Anwendung in der Flussfischerei, beliebig einstellen zu können, greift am Rahmen a des Netzsackes b eine zu einer Seilrolle s führende Leine t an, wobei die Drehachse dieser mittels Kurbel u zu betätigenden Seilrolle s über Bügel v an einem geeigneten Schwimmkörper w, auch Flotte genannt, befestigt ist.
Nachdem man die Leine t unter Zuhilfenahme der Kurbel u auf die gewünschte Länge gebracht hat, stellt man die Seilrolle s durch einen in eine Bohrung x der Bügel v und eine der Bohrungen y der Seilrolle eingesteckten Splint fest.
Wenn das Fanggerät, sei es als Senk-oder Stellnetz in fliessenden Gewässern oder als Schleppnetz verwendet wird, stellt sich der Netzsack b samt dem Netzbeutel l in der durch die Leine t bestimmten Tiefe selbsttätig deshalb in die Strömungsrichtung ein, weil die relativ zum Fanggerät bewegte Flüssigkeit in dem Trichter f beschleunigt wird und daher einen die liegende Lage des Fanggerätes herbeiführenden Seitendruck auf die Trichterwände ausübt.
Diese künstlich hervorgerufene Strömungsbeschleunigung bewirkt auch, dass in den Netzsack b geratene Fische, sobald sie durch das weitmaschige Drahtnetz e in die Nähe der Öffnung i

gelangt sind, in den Trichter f hineingezogen und von dort über den Rohrstutzen h dem Netz- beutel I zugeführt werden, von wo es wegen der entgegenstehenden Stachel i bzw. q kein Zurück mehr gibt. Am Drahtnetz e z. B. in Beutelchen sowie im Drahtkorb bzw. Drahtgitter g angebrachte Köder locken die Fische zur Boden- öffnung und in den Trichter f hinein. Nach dem Einholen des Gerätes kann der Boden des Netz- beutels I nach Entfernen der Schnur n zwecks Entnahme des Fanges geöffnet werden.
