Das Stammpatent Nr. 740345/43 betrifft eine Vorrichtung zum Lichtbogenschweissen mit ummantelter, auf das Werkstück   aufgelegterElektrode,   bei der diese von einem mit dem Werkstück einen Kanal bildenden Körper abgedeckt ist. Wie angegeben, kann dabei die Schweissung in manchen Fällen durch Beigabe desoxydierender Mittel, insbesondere durch Zwischenlage eines Streifens Papier zwischen Elektrode und Abdeckkörper noch weiter verbessert werden. 



   Erfindungsgemäss erhält die in einer Vorrichtung nach dem Hauptpatent verwendete ummantelte Elektrode eine an sich bekannte, ein-oder mehrlagige, gegebenenfalls verklebte Umwicklung oder Umbandelung aus Papier oder anderen desoxydierenden Mitteln. Eine solche zusätzliche Umwicklung ist nicht nur in den vorerwähnten Fällen, nämlich als Ersatz für das zeitraubende Einlegen von Papierstreifen od. dgl., oder bei Elektroden mit höherem Oxydgehalt vorteilhaft, sondern man kann damit vor allem auch das bei einigen Elektrodenarten vorkommende Abspringen der Ummantelungsmasse während des Schweissens mit Sicherheit verhindern, das sonst gerade bei der nicht willkürlich von aussen beeinflussbaren, vollselbsttätigen Schweissung mit einer Vorrichtung nach dem Hauptpatent leicht zu Fehlern der Schweissnaht führt.

The parent patent no. 740345/43 relates to a device for arc welding with a coated electrode placed on the workpiece, in which the electrode is covered by a body forming a channel with the workpiece. As indicated, the welding can in some cases be improved even further by adding deoxidizing agents, in particular by interposing a strip of paper between the electrode and the cover body.



   According to the invention, the encased electrode used in a device according to the main patent is provided with a one-layer or multi-layer, optionally glued, wrapping or wrapping made of paper or other deoxidizing agents, which is known per se. Such an additional wrapping is not only advantageous in the above-mentioned cases, namely as a replacement for the time-consuming insertion of paper strips or the like, or for electrodes with a higher oxide content, but above all it can be used to prevent the sheathing material from falling off during some types of electrodes of welding, which would otherwise easily lead to defects in the weld seam, especially in the case of fully automatic welding that cannot be arbitrarily influenced from the outside using a device according to the main patent.
