   Die Wirkungsweise der Vorrichtung ist folgende :
Durch die Betätigung des Handgriffes 13 leicht ermöglichte Verdrehung des Zahnrades 11, welches mit dem Schaltorgan 12 im Eingriff steht, können die auf der Vorgelegewelle angeordneten Stufenräder   8'-10'verschoben   und in der jeweils erforderlichen Stellung durch Sperrasten 14 gegebener Art gehalten werden. 



  Ist z. B. ein Stufenräderpaar in Eingriff gebracht, so tritt der Mitnehmer 15 selbsttätig ausser Wirkung, da die ihn tragende Hülse 6 sich schneller dreht als die Tretkurbelwelle 1. 



   DieseVorrichtung ermöglicht auch beide Kettenräder 7 und 17 im Durchmesser fast gleich gross zu gestalten. 



   Die Anordnung des Zeigers 16 sowie die unter Federwirkung stehende Sperre 14 ermöglichen ein mit Sicht und Gefühl wahrnehmbares Stufenschalten.
