Process for the production of sub-igniters from peat.
The invention relates to a process for the production of peat-based sub-igniters, the peat being impregnated with flammable liquid substances such as oils or tars. The possibility of impregnating peat with oil has been repeatedly tested, but could not be carried out in practice, since the peat, which is reduced in the pore volume by self-compaction in the course of drying, is not capable of absorbing such amounts of oil and the like Like. Include that would make it suitable for use as a sub-fuse.
The essence of the method according to the invention is that peat with a special structure, namely frozen peat, is used as the starting material for the production of Unterfiring. It is known that peat which is not sufficiently dry when the weather starts to break, the structure is largely loosened by partially breaking the colloidal bond. Such loosening by freezing out has hitherto been avoided for burnt peat purposes because the peat that is then dried is very loose and of poor strength. It has now been found that peat from the structure of the frozen peat is an excellent vehicle for impregnation with oils, tar and the like. Like. That enables the production of high-quality sub-igniters in this way.
In the context of the method according to the invention, the sods of the frozen and possibly post-dried peat are expediently to enlarge the surface by suitable cutting devices, which subdivide the peat sods by rotating or swinging saws or knives by horizontal cut into plates and subsequent vertical cut into prisms, disassembled into fittings. Subsequent to the cutting process, after the interposition of dust removal, the briquettes are wetted or impregnated with oil or tar. In order to effect an economical impregnation, the impregnation of the molded articles is advantageously carried out by spraying on a mixture of compressed air and the combustible liquid.
For this purpose, the peat moldings are exposed to the spray jets of several nozzles, for example in an inclined drum, whereby the oil, tar or the like can be regulated by changing the inclination, the speed and the nozzle cross-section.
The method according to the invention is particularly characterized by the fact that, in contrast to the previous method of working, in which the peat is first shredded and then briquetted again with binders to form briquettes and pressed, it is possible to easily produce sub-igniters whose content is combustible Substance, oil, tar, etc. can be adjusted and kept constant with practically great accuracy.
Drying the field together with freezing out is sufficient; Press work and artificial heat treatment are saved. Sufficient absorption through the loose raw material is achieved by spraying on the easily combustible impregnation agent, so that the method of the invention can be carried out cold and starting from the moldings in one operation.
