Es sind bereits eine Reihe von Vorschlägen gemacht worden, um Bauten trocken, d. h. also ohne Verwendung feuchter Mittel erstellen zu können. Es ist z. B. vorgeschlagen worden, Baukörper unter Zwischenlage von Heraklithplatten aufeinander zu schichten. Es ist jedoch leicht einzusehen, dass diese Bauweise insofern umständlich ist, als sie zweierlei verschiedener Bauelemente bedarf und dass weiterhin bei jeder horizontalen Fuge zwei Gleitflächen sich befinden, auf denen sich die übereinanderliegenden Teile verschieben können.
