Overcurrent protection.
In addition to fusible links, in which the passage of current is interrupted by the melting of the sea due to heating, there are also known oxidation safeguards in which the wire oxidizes after the limit current is exceeded, so that it practically becomes an insulator, whereby the circuit is interrupted. In practice, these antioxidants are used in the
Usually manufactured in such a way that the core wire, which is made of oxidizable metal, is provided with a non-oxidizable sheath. It has been shown that such wires do not have sufficient resistance to corrosion, since at an elevated temperature in the range of 40 C, and at a
100% relative humidity, corrosion has occurred, which initially shrinks the core wire, but later also destroys it.
The invention relates to an improvement in the anti-oxidation wires against corrosion.
Tests have shown that if the core metal on the one hand and the protective shell metal on the other hand in
In the form of alloys, they contain components that have a small potential difference from one another in the voltage series and that fall in the voltage series between the core metal and the groove metal, practically eliminating the risk of corrosion.
Good results can also be achieved in such a way that a common component in the form of an alloy component is used for the core and protective covering metal. The common component may be an iron group metal, e.g. B. nickel.
With regard to the amount of the components to be used, it should be noted that these are to be selected in such a way that metal vapor is not developed in such an amount that the response current can be passed on. On the other hand, by using the component, the desired passivity between core and protective cover must be maintained with certainty.
Tests have shown that a fuse wire in which molybdenum alloyed with 0'15% nickel is used as the core wire, while 0'66% nickel-alloyed silver is used as the protective cover, against
Corrosion has a high resistance even in atmospheric conditions in the tropics, i.e. at high temperatures and a high relative degree of fire resistance of the surrounding atmosphere.
The fuse according to the invention has particularly proven itself in gas-filled electric incandescent lamps, in particular with double or multiple spiraled incandescent bodies, in which as a result
Ionization of the lamp filler gas or simmering of the filament or both arcs can occur simultaneously.
PATENT CLAIMS:

Oxidation protection with protective metal shell, characterized in that the core metal on the one hand and the protective cover metal on the other hand each contain components as alloy constituents which fall in the series of voltages between the core and protective cover metal and have a small voltage difference from one another.
