<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Friction gear transmission with continuously variable transmission ratio.
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1
Running track with the radius K (only one drawn), while they work together at the point of the smallest radius k with the disk-shaped two wheels 3 and 3 '. The rings 1 and 1 'are adjustably supported by three pins 6 each in three helical slots 7 (only 1 pair shown) in the drum 8. If a screw thread that is not sufficiently flat according to the coefficient of friction can be achieved through the slots 7, the drum 8 can also be provided with an internal thread instead of the slots, in which the pins 6 offset according to the pitch are mounted.
In both cases, the journals 6 have roller bearings so that the axial movement of the rings 1 and T is not opposed too much resistance. The drum 8 is rigidly coupled to the driving shaft 9. The double cones 2 are mounted with their end pin 11 in radial slots 12 of two disks 13, 13 ', which are rigidly connected to each other by three bolts 14 (only one shown) located between the double cones and to the driven one by a claw coupling 32, 33 Shaft 16 can be connected. The disk-shaped friction wheels 3 and 3 'are held in place on the central shaft 19 by steep, counter-rotating screw threads 18, 18'.
The center shaft 19 is coupled by the gear mechanism 20, 21, 21 ′ and 22 to a hollow shaft 2.3, which carries a brake disk 24, in such a way that it is held in the rest position when the disk 24 is braked. The center shaft 19 can, however, also be coupled to the hollow shaft 29 and the brake disk 30 attached to it via the gears 27 and 28, and the like. zw. As a result of the changed transmission ratio, when the disk 30 is held, the shaft 19 is rotated in the opposite direction as the shaft 9. The two brake disks 24 and. 30 can never be braked simultaneously by the assigned braking device 31, but only one of them.
The coupling member cooperating with the claw coupling member 15. 32 can optionally also be connected to the coupling member 33, which is stuck on the disk 1. 3, whereby the
EMI2.2
the drum 8 are out of contact.
The gearbox works as follows:
The driven shaft 16 is activated by the dog clutch. 32 ,. 33 connected to the disks 13, 1 'and thus to the double bevel gears 2 and the two brakes 24 and 30 are opened. If the driving shaft 9 is now driven off by the motor in the direction of arrow 40, the drum 8 rotates with it and the rings 1, l 'are pressed into the position shown by their inertia, regardless of where they are they are just in front of the inner ends of the slots 7. They are pressed against the double cones 2 by the load torque to be overcome and rotating in the opposite direction (initially only the friction torque) and can never fully reach the end of the slots 7.
The double cones 2 are thereby simultaneously to the discs 3 and. 3 'because they try to take them with them in the opposite direction to arrow 40, which, as a result of the thread 18, causes the rings 3, 3' to move towards the center. As long as both brakes 24 and 30 are open, the discs rotate and, together with the parts 19, 20, 21,
EMI2.3
strong pressing of the disks 1, 1 'and 3, 3' on the surface of the bevel gear 2, this itself begins the orbital movement in the direction of arrow 40 and takes the driven shaft 16 via the engaged clutch 32, 33, and see if the Size ratios according to Fig. 1 are selected, the driving shaft rotates four times as fast as the driven shaft.
If the driven shaft is now to be rotated faster, i. H. the gear ratio are brought to 1, the drive motor is quickly throttled and its speed is reduced. Due to the inertia of the rotating parts and the centrifugal force of the rotating double cones, the rings 1, 1 'are moved apart in the slots 7, with the disks 3, 3' being simultaneously moved by the screw threads. 18 against the center of the shaft. This change of position of the parts can be ended in any middle position by ending the motor throttling. The outermost attainable position is the one shown by dashed lines, in which the rings 1, 1 'are completely on the outside and the rings 3, 3' are right in the middle and touch. This position corresponding to FIG. 2 results in the transmission ratio- / ia.
If the transmission ratio is to be brought to 1, the motor is again throttled briefly, which again causes the double cones 2 to lift off the disks 3, 3 'due to the inertia and centrifugal force and the brake body 35 to press somewhat outwards against the action of the springs 36, so that the friction surfaces 37 and 38 are pressed against one another. As a result, the driving shaft 9 is coupled via the drum 8 and via the parts 35, 37 and 38 to the disks 13, 13 'and the driven shaft 16, and the transmission ratio il = 1 is thus established.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In order to change the transmission ratio again in the opposite direction, after lowering the speed, which restores the effect of the planetary gear, the brake disk 24 is briefly released and the brake 30 is briefly applied, thereby turning the center shaft backwards and the disks 3.3 'are moved apart again by the screw thread 18, the rings 1, 1' on the other hand pressed through the screw slots 7 towards the center until the original position is restored.
In order to achieve the opposite direction of rotation on the driven shaft 16, the dog clutch 32 is first brought into the idling position with the brakes open, then with the brake 24 pulled into the coupling part connected to the central shaft 19. M is moved, then the brake 30 is applied. The central shaft now rotates backwards and with it the driven shaft.
When switching from reverse to forward, the process is reversed.
