Device for preventing film fires.
The subject of the invention is a device for preventing film fires, in which a triggering device is arranged at the picture window which acts on devices for closing off the fire protection ducts, possibly by severing the film strip. The known devices of this type respond only at a very specific temperature or they can only be switched over to a different triggering temperature by replacing parts of the device.
The material currently used for films, principally celluloid, is known to be a plastic which essentially consists of a mixture of nitrocellulose and alcoholic camphor solution; the mixing ratio is chosen somewhat differently at each manufacturing site, which means that the ignition temperatures of the usual films are different. Precisely because these temperatures are comparatively not far apart, an
EMI1.1
is switchable, questionable in cinema operations because the ignition temperature of the film being used is often only a little lower than the trigger temperature of the protective device.
According to the invention, a remedy is provided in that an adjusting device is provided, by means of which the triggering device can be set to different triggering temperatures.
The drawing shows an embodiment, u. zw. in a schematic representation.
The known devices 2, 3 acting on the film 1 are arranged in the immediate vicinity of the supply reel 4 and the take-up reel 5; The release device y is attached to the film window 6 and can react mechanically, electrically as well as in a combined manner. If electrical current is used as the pulse carrier, the pulse triggered by the hazardous temperature can either be supplied to the organs 2, 3 to be applied to the film after prior amplification or it can be used without prior amplification to switch on an operating current system that affects this device.
The relay device or the like provided for these purposes is denoted by 8 in the illustrated embodiment. 9 and 10 are the conductors through which the working current flows. 11 shows the connection of the feed line. "
In all cases, the release device Y attached in the region of the film window has, according to the invention, an adjusting device 12 with which the release temperature can be adjusted. When using a triggering device that reacts electrically, it can be designed, for example, as a contact thermometer with adjustable maximum contacts. Furthermore, z. B. Thermocouples, bimetal strips or the like. Find use in conjunction with adjusting devices as triggering devices.
It should also be pointed out that the strong reduction in the tensile strength and flexural strength of some bodies when exposed to heat can be used according to the invention.
