Method for covering objects with metal sheets, in particular with sheets made of rust- and acid-resistant steels.

For numerous items, such as B. pipelines, vats and. Like., it is desirable to make a lining with another metal, in particular with rust- or acid-resistant steels, on the stressed walls. The use of clad sheet metal is often not possible and also expensive. The invention now relates to a method by which such objects are clad with sheet metal in a simple manner, a reliable connection with the base material being achieved at the same time.

The method consists in that the clothing sheets are first adapted to the wall on which they are to be placed. The sheets are adjusted so that there is a gap of about 4-5 mm at their joints. The metal sheets are then attached by welding at several points in this joint and then the remaining joint is filled by welding. This ensures that the facing sheets are welded to one another on the one hand and are well connected to the metal material on the other hand in the same operation.

The drawing shows the manufacture of such clothing on a container. There is a joint between the sheet metal sections 2. 3, which also serves as a welding joint, and the covering sheets are then connected to one another and also to the outer jacket 1 by fusion welding.

The Bskg produced in this way can very easily be checked for leaks; For this purpose, a hole is drilled in the base material and blown in through the same compressed air of about 0 # 1atü. Leaks in the weld seam can then be made visible by brushing with soapy water and can then be easily repaired.

The process is of great economic importance, since only a small amount of cladding panels is necessary; In addition, the procedure can be carried out by any workshop without special equipment.
