Description

Process for the manufacture of electric incandescent lamps with a multiple coiled tungsten lamp.
 EMI1.1
The disadvantage that occurs is largely avoided according to the invention if the luminous element is subjected to the action of an external magnetic, preferably electromagnetic field, after it has been applied to the support frame during the initial heating to a temperature that exceeds the pretreatment temperature. The electromagnetic force effect exerted on the luminous body through which current flows then works against the shrinkage. The luminous element is expediently heated to operating temperature or above.

The effect of the electromagnetic field can take place in the simplest way by means of a current-carrying wire coil which surrounds the supporting frame, which is in a reducing or indifferent gas atmosphere, or, if the latter is already melted into the lamp vessel, this.

The axis of the coil is expediently perpendicular to the plane of the luminous element. The mutual direction of the currents flowing through the wire coil on the one hand and the luminous element on the other hand, as well as the strength of the electromagnetic field must be chosen so that an attraction is exerted on the luminous element, which counteracts the shrinkage. This applies to both the use of direct current and alternating current.
