   Beim Pumpen von sandigen, dicke oder feste StÜcke enthaltenden Flüssigkeiten verstopfen sich leicht die Ventile. Auch ist ihr Verschleiss sehr gross, weil das Fördergut immer an den   Dichtungs-   stellen vorbeistreicht (besonders schädlich bei Sandgehalt). Überdies ist der hydraulisehe Wirkungsgrad besonders bei zähen Flüssigkeiten durch gewöhnliche Ventile stark herabgesetzt. 



   Nun sind Pumpen bekannt, bei denen die Ventile durch einen Schieber ersetzt sind, der in seinen Totlagen die Einlassöffnung bzw. die Auslassöffnung freigibt und jeweils die andere   verschliesst.   



  Dieser Schieber wird entweder wie ein niehtgesteuertes Ventil durch den Druck des Wassers oder über eine geeignete Vorrichtung von der Kolbenstange aus betätigt. In beiden Fällen ist so wie bei gewöhnliehen Ventilen der Beginn jedes Hubes verloren, weil etwas Flüssigkeit zurückfliesst ; auf Kosten dieses Verlustes wird ja die Steuerung bewirkt.
