Valve seat for exhaust valves of internal combustion engines.

The invention relates to a valve seat for exhaust valves of internal combustion engines and consists in the fact that a relatively narrow, convexly arched annular bead smoothly adjoins the valve seat surface, which extends at an acute angle to the inner surface of the exhaust duct, the curvature of which extends to the cylindrical exhaust pipe wall. The valve seat can preferably be formed on a special ring that can be inserted into the valve housing. What is achieved by the invention is that the exhaust gases can sweep past the valve seat as quickly as possible and without turbulence, thereby protecting the seat surface from accepting too much heat from the gases and corroding too quickly. In particular, the formation of a sharp edge on the way of the exhaust gases should be avoided.

In the drawing, the invention is illustrated, for example, u. Zw. 1 means a valve housing into which a ring 2 is pressed, which has the valve seat 4 for the exhaust valve 3. The valve seat surface 4 merges at 5 into a curvature which gradually widens to the diameter of the exhaust duct 6. The flow of the exhaust gases is indicated by the arrows on the right-hand side of the figure.
