Galvanisches Element.
EMI1.1
also eine voluminöse Substanz.

Galvanic element.
The invention aims to improve galvanic elements with air depolarization and essentially consists in that the positive electrode consists entirely or in part of a mixture of graphite and a loosening agent, and the depolarization takes place essentially by means of this mixture. It is therefore not necessary to use an active carbon in the electrode according to the invention, rather the electrode is produced in a very similar manner to that for the
EMI1.1
so a voluminous substance. Petroleum coke has proven to be a particularly suitable loosening agent.
According to the invention, the loosening agent therefore consists wholly or partially of such a substance. It has also proven useful to add solid salmiac to the loosening agent. In order to make the electrode according to the invention suitable for the delivery of higher currents, it is necessary. the mixture of graphite and loosening agent an oxygen carrier, e.g. B. Ceropotassium carbonate, add.
Likewise, the mixture of graphite and loosening agent can also be gas activators, e.g. B. platinum asbestos included. A high performance electrode according to the invention is achieved. when the mixture of graphite and a loosening agent is arranged around a conductive core, in particular made of carbon, optionally together with the other substances mentioned above. It is particularly useful to press the mixture firmly around a conductive core while being moistened with the electrolyte.
Apart from the already mentioned reduction in price, there is the further advantage over the previously known atmospheric oxygen electrodes that no special machines or devices are required for the production of the electrodes, rather the pressed electrodes are produced with the doll presses customary in element production and the electrode mixture itself is also produced in is prepared in the mixing drums available in every element factory.
It should also be added that galvanic elements, both graphite and petroleum coke, have already become known as additives for the depolarization mass for the production of positive electrodes. However, cerocalium carbonate was not used as an atmospheric oxygen transmitter.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Positive electrode for galvanic elements with air depolarization, characterized in that the depolarization is carried out by means of conductive, itself not cooperating loosening agents made of neutral substances, in particular petroleum coke, with the addition of cerium potassium carbonate as an air oxygen carrier.
