  Gassehutzmaske.

  Gas mask.

In the case of gas protective masks, the dead space within the mask, i.e. the space between the mask and face, should be as small as possible, so that some of the exhaled air is not inhaled again. The gas mask is therefore adapted to the shape of the face as much as possible, which makes its manufacture more difficult and expensive.

Attempts have already been made to create a smaller internal mask space by sewing plentiful folds into the mask material; however, this had the disadvantage that the seams made the mask surface leaky and required subsequent compaction. Nevertheless, there is always the risk that the mask will leak again at the seams over time.

It is therefore desirable to produce the mask with no or as few seams as possible.

However, this is only possible from a flat, inelastic material if a large dead space is allowed for the mask, which is then cheap to manufacture and durable.

According to the invention, this dead space is reduced by insert bodies made of soft or elastic material, which have no influence on the tightness of the mask.

The insert body can be gas-tight, but this is not absolutely necessary. As material for the
 EMI1.1

The insert bodies can be designed to match the shape of the head and face.
