B : durch einen magnetischen Nebenschluss, das von der Gegenkompoundwicklung erzeugte Feld die Erregerspulen umgeht, deren dämpfende Wirkung, weil diese Spulen zum Teil an sich kurzgeschlossen sind, einer raschen Feld- änderung entgegenwirkt. Eine solche Gegenkompoundwicklung bietet aber den Nachteil, dass das Ankerfeld nicht nur beim Auftreten eines Stromstosses beeinflusst, sondern dauernd geschwächt wird. Die Erregerwicklungen müssen entsprechend stark bemessen sein, wodurch der Materialaufwand zur Ausführung des Generators sowie die Raumbeal1spruchung desselben entsprechend gross ausfallen. ;

Direct current generator for adjustable working current strength, especially for welding purposes.
To a DC generator that feeds the arc, in particular to a welding generator, u. a. The following requirements are set: a) Stepless and easy setting of different currents and achieving a suitable form of the static characteristic, whereby the value of the open circuit voltage depends on the current strength set. b) Ensuring a favorable dynamic characteristic in which the current increase in the short circuit is small and the voltage rises immediately in the event of a current interruption.
The terminal voltage at no-load is mainly generated by the shunt excitation. In order for the generator current to be set to different current values in accordance with requirement a) when the load is applied, an auxiliary excitation winding is usually used, which increases the main current and which is attached to the main poles close to the shunt winding and excited via auxiliary brushes, and whose effect can be regulated. In order to realize the dynamic characteristic according to b), arrangements are known in which a counter compound winding is used, which weakens the armature field in accordance with the working current. So that this effect occurs without delay, it is ensured that in some way, e.g.
B: through a magnetic shunt, the field generated by the counter compound winding bypasses the excitation coils, the damping effect of which, because these coils are in part short-circuited, counteracts a rapid field change. However, such a counter compound winding has the disadvantage that the armature field is not only influenced when a current surge occurs, but is continuously weakened. The excitation windings must be dimensioned correspondingly strong, which means that the cost of materials for designing the generator and the space it occupies are correspondingly large. ;
The arrangement according to the invention does not have this disadvantage.
After that, if an equal

pol a magnetic shunt is arranged in such a way that the reversing pole winding drives the additional magnetic flux generated by this in the direction of the longitudinal field through the armature of the machine in the event of a current surge and thereby causes a decrease in current for an increase in current and an increase in the terminal voltage of the machine when it decreases.
Fig. 1 illustrates as an embodiment a welding generator according to the invention, the z. B. should have the static characteristics of FIG. For the sake of clarity, a two-pole machine is shown in FIG. 1, although the generator can be multi-pole. The yoke a carries the main poles c

this auxiliary excitation winding m can be influenced in a known manner by regulating an ohmic resistance i or by adjusting the brushes g or by both means. When controlling with the resistance i, the auxiliary brush axis usually remains fixed; it lies in front of the main pole axis, advanced by a certain angle.
This ensures that the shunt excitation is supported by the auxiliary excitation by a certain amount even when idling. As the value increases

The two features of the dynamic characteristic mentioned under b are achieved by the effect of the auxiliary pole winding n through which the working current flows: as long as the working current remains unchanged, the reversing pole field is divided into an armature field that is perpendicular to the main field and is only used for commutation purposes Stray field that runs through the yoke a, the main pole c and the magnetic shunt e. In a normally saturated machine, this stray field has practically no influence on the field generated by the excitation windings k and m, which passes through the armature b, so that the effect of the excitation windings is not weakened by the main current winding as in the known arrangements.
If, on the other hand, a current surge occurs in the working circuit, a corresponding field change occurs in the auxiliary poles d. Since this change cannot suddenly propagate through the main pole cores due to the damping of the excitation coils k and m, it runs through the armature, in which it causes a decrease in the brush voltage with increasing current and an increase in voltage with decreasing current. For increasing current, the path of the magnetic flux then generated by the current surge is indicated by dotted lines in FIG. 1.
