Rohrkupplung.

Pipe coupling.
The invention relates to a flexible pipe coupling which is used to connect a smooth pipe to a part having a flange. Such a coupling is z. B. for the connection of sleeveless asbestos cement, synthetic resin or wooden pipes or the like to iron spacers, slides, valves or the like.
Such couplings have already been proposed. in which a sleeve encompassing the end of the smooth pipe is clamped with its end against the end face of the part having the flange. On the other hand, it is known in couplings for connecting two smooth pipes, against the end of a sleeve surrounding the pipe ends, a sealing ring by means of a flange ring
EMI1.1
Part is tensioned, while a flange ring is pressed against the other end of the sleeve with the interposition of a sealing ring surrounding the smooth pipe. As a result, a particularly simple design of the coupling is achieved while maintaining a high degree of flexibility of the same.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown in longitudinal section.
It denotes 1 the smooth pipe and 2 the flange 14 provided with the pipe socket to be connected or the like. B. belongs to the valve to be installed. A sleeve 3 has an end part 4 corresponding to the width of the pipe to be connected and the pipe socket, which merges into the conical bore J via a round undercut 6. The conical bore 5 and the undercut 6 enable the pipe 1 to pivot to a large extent in relation to the part 2. The front end of the sleeve 3 rests with a beveled surface 7 and rounded edge 8 on a rubber sealing ring 9.
This is pressed together in a wedge shape with a change in shape and against the pipe jacket and rests with the side opposite the inclined surface 7 at 10 on an inclined surface of a flange ring 11 which has a rounded edge 8 a. The flange ring sits loosely
EMI1.2
Sleeve 3 corresponds. When the flange ring 11 is tightened, it presses the sleeve 3 against the socket 2, a sealing ring 17 producing a tight mutual connection of the parts 2 and 3.
At the same time, the sealing ring 9 at 18 is pressed firmly against the pipe 1 by the inclined surfaces 7 and 10.
As can be seen from the drawing, the pipe 1 is inserted at 19 and 20 with play in the flange ring 11 or in the socket J, so that the socket 9 at 18 forms the only bearing for the pipe end.
In this way, the pipe can move around the bearing 18 within the limits of the conical bore 5 within the pressure ring 3 when pivoting or sliding forces act on the pipe from the outside. The rounding 21 of the inner edge of the inwardly protruding end part of the sleeve 3 prevents the pipe end at 22 from being damaged. However, the loose support 27, 22 can optionally also be designed as an additional seal with the aid of a sealing ring.
In the fully compressed state of the sealing ring 9, in which the seal at

further tightening of the nuts 13 is permitted. In this way a tight seal at both 18 and 7, 10 and 17 is ensured.
