Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 provided with a neon filling. In order to ensure a pure white light color in connection with the selected fillings and the light scattering of the vessel, the current to be sent through the front chamber must be eight to twelve times as large as the current passed through the rear chamber. As a rule, it has proven to be particularly expedient if a current ten times as large as that through the rear chamber is sent through the front chamber.

   In such a fluorescent tube 1 m long and 22 mm in diameter, which has a longitudinal partition, a current of 200 milliamperes is expediently selected for the front chamber and a current of 20 milliamperes for the rear chamber. However, a higher current intensity or a lower current intensity down to about 50 milliamperes can also be used with approximately the same current intensity ratio for the front chamber. Lower currents for both chambers are primarily considered when the pipe diameter is less than 22 mm. The noble gas accommodated in the two chambers of the l-you tube can have a usual pressure of -2-15 mm.

   The two-chamber tube or the two tubes of different colors lying one behind the other can be designed in a straight line or also bent in any shape, in particular also in the form of characters.

PATENT CLAIM: Light tube arrangement with two parallel electric light tubes arranged one behind the other in the viewing direction, which have different colored fillings and are possibly only separated from one another by a partition, characterized in that the blue shining front tube filled with a noble gas and mercury has one more than eightfold higher current load, expediently eight to twelve times higher current load than the red glowing rear tube, which is only filled with neon, and that both tubes are housed in a common light-diffusing cover or that at least the front tube has a light-diffusing vessel or a light-diffusing coating.
