Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the production of alloys with great hardness, high wear resistance and good cutting force.
Extensive tests have shown that cobalt-molybdenum alloys can be hardened through a special thermal treatment. If cobalt alloys with 10-35% molybdenum are heated in the cast or rolled state to a temperature above about 1000 C, they are then cooled sufficiently quickly in the air or by immersion in water or oil and finally heated at temperatures between 500-900 C. ,. this increases the strength properties
EMI1.1
Condition on 215 Brinelle units. If necessary, additions of one or more other elements, such as copper, aluminum, nickel, chromium, manganese, up to 40% can also be added to these heat treatable alloys.
With such alloys, too, the strength properties can be increased considerably by a suitable thermal treatment, as indicated above.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Process for the production of alloys with great hardness, high wear resistance and good cutting force, which are retained even at higher temperatures, from cobalt-molybdenum alloys with 10-35% molybdenum, characterized in that the alloys are from a temperature above about 1000 C. cooled quickly and then tempered at temperatures between 500-900 C.
