Process for sensitizing colloidal layers containing fading dyes.
It is already known to subsequently sensitize fading dye layers by incorporating sensitizers in the bathing process, d. H. by bathing the bleaching dye lines in solutions of the sensitizer. However, these methods have the disadvantage that the dyes or other necessary constituents of the layer are often dissolved out.
It has now been found that these difficulties can be avoided if an organic accelerator, which is preferably distributed in a liquid or solid agent, is incorporated into the finished bleaching dye layers by spraying, pouring on, steaming or diffusion.
Applying a solution of the organic sensitizer, for example thiosinamine, to the z. B. of gelatin or cellulose derivatives or their mixture consisting of a bleaching dye layer can conveniently be done with the help of application rollers or similar devices. The sensitizer can also be sprayed on as a solution or applied or sprayed on in a mixture with a colloid.
To avoid moisture treatment of the fading layers, the sensitizer can also be brought into contact with the dye layer in vapor form in a closed container, either by itself or in the presence of other volatile substances, optionally under reduced pressure and heating. It is also possible to allow the sensitizer to diffuse from a suitable carrier into a fading dye layer. The diffusion takes place either by itself or when heated slightly (ironing on) or when moistened.
Paper or a colloid layer (film made of gelatine, regenerated cellulose, cellulose esters, ethers or the like) can serve as a preliminary carrier for the sensitizer. The carrier is impregnated with a solution of the sensitizer, or the sensitizer is incorporated into the carrier during its manufacture by z. B. the gelatine or cellulose derivative solution is added before casting to form films. A colloid layer containing the sensitizer can also be poured onto any suitable substrate, from which the sensitizer then diffuses into the dye layer upon contact with the latter.
After the sensitizer has diffused into the bleaching layer, the pressed-on temporary carrier for the sensitizer can be peeled off, provided the pressed-on layer is made of a transparent material, but it can also be left on the sheet-out layer during copying.
The process can also be used in the production of sensitized fade-out dye layers by first producing unsensitized layers, which are kept in stock in this state. According to the incoming sales carriers, the stored unsensitized layers are then provided with the colloid coating (gelatin or cellulose derivatives) containing the required amount of sensitizers on one of the usual application machines or with the aid of a spray device in a manner known per se.
