Headstock for lathes and combined machine tools.
The subject of the invention is the headstock of a lathe or a combined machine tool, in which a milling machine, drill, etc. are located on the headstock side of the frame of a lathe. According to the invention, the headstock cover can be pivoted around the drive shaft of the headstock gear by means of two half bearings and, due to its weight, it rests on the headstock without fastening means. In the arrangement according to the invention, the pivoting and opening of the cover does not take place, as is usual, via hinges.
Since the axis of rotation of the cover is not on the edge of the cover, but within it, it is possible to balance the cover so that it can be easily folded up on its own or with a built-in electric motor without any effort to get to the inside of the headstock. With the motor installed, this embodiment of the cover offers the further advantage that the operator is made aware of this fact by automatically opening the cover in the event of overload. This automatic folding up in the event of overload can also be used to disengage the main clutch or to switch off the electric motor.
The headstock according to the invention is shown in the drawing, for example. Fig. 1 shows a side view of the box with the lid closed, Fig. 2 shows a side view with the lid open together with the built-up electric motor.
Due to its weight, the cover 1 rests on the headstock 2 and is supported at the same time on the main bearing bushes 3 of the drive shaft 4 with the half-bearings 5 located in the cover, which are lengthened towards the inside of the box. The lid is balanced in such a way that it can be easily folded up by means of the handle 6, i. H. can be pivoted about the shaft 4 as an axis.
According to Fig. 2, the electric motor M is built on the cover, the direction of rotation being indicated by the arrow at the motor drive pulley. The rotary movement is transmitted from the motor to the main drive pulley 7 by means of a belt or V-belt, a rope or a chain 8.
The force occurring in the pulling strand of the transmission means when the motor is under maximum load presses the cover down on its side closer to the axis of rotation and automatically pivots it around the shaft 4 until it rests against the box 2 by means of two lugs 9. The cover remains in this open position, thereby alerting the operator to the fact that the machine has been overloaded and either the main clutch must be disengaged or the engine must be switched off. However, it is also possible that when the cover is folded up, a device (not shown) is activated which causes the clutch to be disengaged immediately or the motor to be switched off.
