sleeve pen for fillings and dentures.
Patent No. 129506 describes a sleeve pin for tooth fillings and dentures, which consists of a metal pin to be inserted into the root canal, the latter being provided with a sleeve-like cavity in the end facing the oral cavity; An insertable pin, which serves as a carrier for the tooth filling or the replacement tooth, is precisely fitted into this cavity. According to the patent, silver is used as the material for the sleeve pin for all parts or the pin penetrating the root canal and the sleeve and the insertion pin are made from silver
EMI1.1
It has now been found that stainless steel is particularly well suited as a material for the production of the sleeve pins, which has certain advantages compared to the pins previously used. Since stainless steel is an unusually strong material, the sleeve walls can be made thinner without the sleeve pin losing the strength required to anchor the replacement tooth or tooth filling. At the same time, the material is more elastic than silver, and the part inserted into the root canal is significantly less subject to bending at the tip than a silver point. This is very important for handling when filling the root canal, since this very delicate work places great demands on the skill of the doctor anyway.
If you do not want to do without the germicidal effect of silver when using a sleeve pin made of stainless steel, you can silver-coat the part protruding into the root canal and in this way ensure the advantages of both materials used. If desired for special purposes, the carrier pin can be made of stainless steel instead
EMI1.2
As stated in the description of patent no. 129 506, the sleeve pins can be designed in a variety of shapes, with a square, cylindrical, polygonal cross section of the sleeve, the outer surface of which can be smooth or grooved, etc.
For anchoring the carrier pin in the sleeve, it has proven to be particularly advantageous if the former is made tapered at the end facing the sleeve, the sleeve being given a bottom shape suitable for receiving the tip so that the carrier pin in the sleeve is tight. With a total length of the carrier pin of about 1 cm, the tip length is about 2 mm. This design of the tip provides such a good connection between the sleeve and the carrier pin that puttying together with gutta-percha or the like is completely superfluous.
