Electrical contactor.
An electrical contactor is a contact device which is opened or closed by switching the circuit of an electromagnet on and off. In contrast to an electrically operated switch, a protection system does not have a locking mechanism that holds the switch in the on position even when the magnet is no longer excited. Compared to purely electrical actuation, electrical protection has a much more extensive switching and use option if a trip-free release is provided between the magnet armature and the switching point, which allows the switching point to be opened mechanically while the magnetic circuit is still closed.
The present invention aims to create a particularly simple and versatile embodiment of such contactors, which consists in that a toggle lever system is provided for switching off the contactor contacts and when the contactor contacts are opened, a switch-off contact arranged in the magnetic circuit is temporarily opened. This combined electrical and mechanical actuation results in simplifications in the devices that work together with the contactor for limiting the switching time, for example in the case of end-of-line switches.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in Figs. 1-4. Fig. O shows the contactor according to the invention in a different circuit.
In Fig. 1 and 4 the contactor is in the on position, in Fig. 3 in the off position.
EMI1.1
a magnet that acts on the armature 2 and whose excitation circuit is closed by an external switch-on contact, for example the push button 11, and whose holding circuit, which is independent of the push button H, runs through the switch-off contact 4 and the holding contact 3, which switches in the same way as the main contacts arranged next to it but not drawn. Between the armature 2 and the holding contact 3, the toggle joint 9, 10 is provided, which is caused to buckle in the event of mechanical impact by the lever 5 and the pawl 6 located on it.
As soon as this happens, the lever 9 strikes against an arm of the hold-off contact 4 and interrupts the holding
EMI1.2
the stop 7 prevents further buckling. If the external switch-on contact 11 is closed, this position remains. However, if it is open, the knee joint takes the
EMI1.3
contact 3 and the corresponding main contacts and is connected to the lever arm 10, the stroke of the holding contact is limited. The toggle lever therefore stretches in the end position and is ready for a new activation, after which the interruption contact 4 has closed again in the meantime (FIG. 3).
If the lever 5 is still in the release position when switching on again by pressing the push button 11, as shown in FIG. 4, the pawl 6 is rotated by the nose located on the lever 9 so that a mechanical release can only take place after the lever 5 has been transferred via the position shown in FIG. 1 to that of FIG.
In the case of the modification of the circuit shown in FIG. 5, with the structural design of the seat unchanged, the result is that the contactor immediately returns to the on position after a mechanical release. if the push button 11 is still closed during the mechanical release

is; As a result, the contactor always immediately goes to position Fig. 3. There the cut-off contact 4 closes again, and if the push button 11 is still pressed, the protection immediately goes back to the switched-on position, in which it remains until the next mechanical trip .
This arrangement is particularly suitable for systems in which the motor of a tap changer is switched on by the contactor and the mechanical triggering by means of the individual stages

the push button 11 is pressed by a release cam, the step holder is immediately switched to the next step. Otherwise the step holder remains in the position it has reached.
