Die Folge einer zu weitgehenden Drosselung ist ein nicht durchgebrannte Gut. Die Ursache ist auch hier dieselbe. Sobald nämlich der Luftstrom unter ein gewisses Mass herabsinkt, füllt er nicht mehr den vollen Ofenquerschnitt aus, wodurch eine ungleichmässige Verbrennung bedingt ist. 



   Wenn man nun Gas bzw. Luft nicht in kontinuierlichem Strome, sondern stossweise dem Ofen zuführt, ist es einerseits möglich, die mit dem einzelnen Stosse zugeführte Gas-und Luftmenge so gross zu wählen, dass eine ausreichende Verteilung derselben über den ganzen Ofenquerschnitt erreicht wird, anderseits aber ist es möglich, durch entsprechende Wahl der Strömungspausen das dem Ofen überhaupt zugeführte Gas-und Luftquantum so weit   herabzudrücken,   wie es der ökonomische Ofenbetrieb verlangt. 



  Selbstverständlich kann die stossweise Zuführung der Verbrennungsluft auch beim Gasofen in Betracht kommen. Ein gleichmässiger Gang des Gasgenerators kann beim Gasofen trotz der stossweisen Gaszufuhr dadurch erreicht werden, dass die Gaseinströmungen nicht alle gleichzeitig, sondern abwechselnd gedrosselt werden und in die Gasleitung ein Pufferbehälter eingebaut wird.
