Streckmetall.

1. Expanded metal.
The invention relates to an expanded metal, for the production of which sheets are slit and stretched and also bent in such a way that the strands or strands forming a network and imparting cohesion are given a shape such that they are formed as a network with rows of bent knot strands on the one hand and so on Knot strands emerge on the other side of each expanded metal surface produced in this way.
When shaping the interrelated strands, called knot strands for short, a piece of metal or sheet metal that is stretched and shaped according to the invention, the procedure is such that the knot strands protrude on both sides of the stretched metal and thereby form passage openings parallel to the surface. In this way, main rows of stitches are created, the nodes of which have a V-shaped cross-section and all of which are either above or below the central plane of the sheet metal, and intermediate rows of stitches in between whose flat nodes lie in this plane.
A special feature of the invention is that the main rows of stitches formed from the connecting strands or strands of the network at the nodes connecting the individual stitches of the row only to one side, u. between adjacent rows are bent out to different sides from the central plane in which the nodes connecting the individual rows are located in such a way that passage openings are formed transversely to the length of the main rows of stitches, which are located in the central plane of the sheet metal and the introduction of stiffening rods allow any point in the network. These stiffening rods, tubes or the like can significantly increase the rigidity of the expanded sheet metal.
According to the invention, nodes with a V-like cross-section, if increased rigidity is required, can be folded, grooved or grooved in the longitudinal or transverse direction or in both or given a channel or arch shape.
Each stitch of every main stitch row is at its widest point with another main stitch in the next main stitch row in 'direct connection. The stitches of each main row of stitches are arched out on the opposite side than the stitches of the main row of stitches with which they are directly connected, and between every two such main rows of stitches there is an intermediate row of stitches whose stitches are formed by parts of the main stitches of two directly connected main rows of stitches.
A particular advantage of the expanded metal according to the invention are the openings parallel to the surface through which stiffening rods, tubes or strips made of metal or the like can be pushed through or inserted in such a way that they are encompassed by the protruding knot strands and lie between them, so that the stiffening means mentioned stand approximately at right angles to the longer diagonal of the stitches.
The starting material for the production of the expanded sheet metal according to the invention can also be used sheet metal scraps which result from the production of certain stamped articles of elongated shape.
The drawings illustrate an exemplary embodiment.

G * can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, in which rods, rods e or the like inserted between some of the bulging strips a and drawn through some of the openings b parallel to the surface are drawn. Each through-opening b parallel to the surface arises as a result of the curvature of the knot strands a (FIG. 2). The connection points d and the arched knot strands a of the expanded metal can be furrowed or grooved as desired, z. B. according to FIGS. 4 and 5.
If rods, rods c or the like are used and are pushed through the surface-parallel openings b of a piece of expanded metal, the V-shaped connections e are so that they touch the rods, rods c or the like (Fig. 3).
Both the V-shaped e and the flat nodes d of the expanded metal, like the arched knot strands a, can be grooved, grooved or profiled as desired in order to increase their rigidity (FIGS. 4 and 5).
