direction supplies the necessary cold, and then flows through the tubes 4 'of the exchanger 4, where it causes the condensation of the acetylene and warms up, whereupon it returns through the line 17 via the exchanger 14 to the compressor 13.
After a certain time, the switching valves 3, 18 and 19 and the expansion valve 16 are switched over automatically. In this way, the gas mixture is passed into the exchanger 5 operating as a condenser. The exchanger 4 then works as an evaporator. The hydrogen then exits at 12 and the acetylene at 8. At the same time, the circuit of the aid is switched and then takes place in the directions 14-17, 4, 5, 15 and 14.
With this device, any risk of clogging is avoided, since the acetylene always flows around the pipes in the cold state. On the other hand, the heat exchange takes place in the condensers between gases of very different pressures, which significantly facilitates the transfer of cold.
The auxiliary circuit is used here not only as a transmission medium, but at the same time also for cooling the device when it is started up. During operation, the inevitable loss of cold through free relaxation or through relaxation with external work performance in

The gases to be treated can also be used under atmospheric or even lower pressures in order to avoid any risk of the formation of liquid acetylene.
