  Device for electrical lighting.

The invention relates to a device for electrical lighting, which consists of a winding intended for high-frequency currents to flow through and a fixed conductor arranged in the vicinity of the winding, in which currents induced by the high-frequency current arise and make the conductor glow.

The drawing shows three exemplary embodiments of the invention in a schematic representation.

In Fig. 1, 1 denotes an evacuated glass bulb, within which a high frequency winding 2 and a small metallic body d located in its vicinity are arranged. If a high-frequency current flows through this winding, 3 currents are induced in the body, which make this body glow.

In FIG. 2, a body 4 made of refractory material is arranged within the winding 2. In the surface of this body a number of small, metallic masses 5 are inserted, which, when a high-frequency current flows through the winding 2, are transformed into as many luminous points. The heat-resistant carrier 4 could be made of magnesia, which has the property of becoming conductive at a high temperature. After this carrier is sufficiently heated by the luminous metal masses, it would become conductive and the induction currents generated by high frequency current could
 EMI1.1

According to FIG. 3, on the heat-resistant carrier 4, there are small, metallic masses 5 and, between these masses, particles 6 of oxides of thorium. Cerium, etc. arranged.

After the metallic masses 5 have been caused to glow by induction, they in turn cause the oxide particles 6 to glow. It is known that oxides of cerium and thorium have great luminosity and a lighting device according to FIG. 3 will therefore emit a bright light.

The advantage of the devices described is that. that the light body no longer needs to be designed as a long and cumbersome thread, as in the known incandescent lamps, but can be given a simple, easy-to-manufacture shape that can be adapted to the respective type of lighting.

It is also known that the currents induced by high frequency currents mainly affect the outer layers of the conductor. in which they arise, flow through. You could also use this property to choose the Leueht body by z. B. would be made of a metallic ball, which would be coated on its surface with a noble metal layer.
