Process for the manufacture of coils for electrical purposes.
The present invention relates to a method for producing coils from wires or strips made of aluminum or its alloys, in particular for electrical purposes.
The invention consists in starting from such wires, strips, etc., which are used in an electrolytic bath consisting of mixtures of oxalic acid with oxidizing agents, e.g. B. chromic acid, potassium dichromate, potassium permanganate. or inorganic acids, e.g. B. hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, are provided with an oxidic insulation coating.
It is known to wind such oxidic aluminum wires into coils without intermediate layers.
It is also proposed to strengthen the oxide coating by oxidizing it.
In contrast, the present method differs in that the wires or tapes, which are covered in a known manner with lacquer or enamel, after winding without any combustible intermediate

fired which is practically fireproof. It is therefore possible to heat the coil to the red heat after completion without affecting the resistance. On the contrary, heating the finished coil contributes to a strengthening and solidification of the insulation layers and even when it is hot, the coil shows the resistance corresponding to the temperature. A coil wound from such wires without intermediate layers is therefore particularly suitable for those applications where strong heating of the coil is to be expected in the factory. One can also use fusible protective layers, e.g.
B. fire fusible lacquers or enamel coatings on the heated surface; these coatings increase the mechanical or electrical resistance.
