   Bei Doppelpumpen mit versetzt arbeitenden Kolben, bei denen der eine Kolben seinen Hub beginnt, wenn der andere sieh in der Mitte seines Hubes oder angenähert in dieser sich befindet, zeigt es sich, dass im Druckrohr unliebsame Druckerhöhungen auftreten, wenn der zweite Pumpenkolben seinen Hub beginnt. Diese Erscheinung   erklärt sich   daraus, dass die Kraftäusserung des Dampfkolbens zu Beginn des Hubes ihren grössten Wert hat und dann nach einer Kurve abfällt. Wenn nun der erste Kolben die Mitte seines Hubes erreicht hat und demgemäss der von ihm ausgeübte Kraftaufwand geringer ist als zu Beginn seiner Bewegung, so tritt der zweite Kolben mit der der   Anfangsbewegung entsprechenden   grossen Energie in Tätigkeit.

   Auch bei solchen Duplexpumpen, bei denen die Triebkraft während des Hubes keine   Veränderung   erfährt. tritt die erwähnte Erscheinung infolge des Hinzutretens der Tätigkeit des zweiten Kolbens auf. Dementsprechend wird auf das Wasser im Druckrohr   plötzlich   ein erheblich

This phenomenon is explained by the fact that the force exerted by the steam piston has its greatest value at the beginning of the stroke and then drops after a curve.
