   Bei schwungradlosen Dampfmaehinen, wie Luft-und Speisepumpen für Lokomotiven u. a. m., wird die Umsteuerbewegung des die Dampfverteilung im Dampfzylinder bewirkenden Steuerschiebers, der meist als Kolbensehieber ausgebildet ist, vielfach durch einen Hilfssteuerschieber überwacht, der mit dem Arbeitskolben des Dympfzylinders derart gekuppelt ist, dass er seine   Bewegung vollführt, wenn   der Arbeitskolben in die unmittelbare Nähe seiner Totpunkte gelangt ist. Diese bekannten   Hilfsschieber   sind meist als Flachschieber oder als Teil eines Rundschiebers ausgeführt, so dass sie auf einer Seite einer zwangsläufigen Führung entbehren.

   Diesem Umstand ist es zuzusehreiben, dass die tief in die angebohrt Kolbenstange des Dampfkolbens hineinragende dünne Stange des Hilfsschiebers häufig verboten wird, so dass der Hilfssehieber vom   Schieberspiegel   abklappt und die verbogene Schieberstange durch die nunmehr zwischen ihr und der Stange des Dampfkolbens auftretende Reibung bei der Bewegung des Kolbens mitgenommen wird, wodurch ein fehlerhaftes Arbeiten der Steuerung herbeigeführt wird. Ausserdem ist es bei derartigen Steuerungen vorgekommen, dass der Hilfsschieber schon bei teilweiser   Eröffnung   eines Einströmkanals dadurch stehen blieb, dass der   Hauptsteuersehieber   seine Umsteuerbewegung unter dem Einfluss des gedrosselt zuströmenden Treibmittels begann, ohne sie vollenden zu können. 



   Um dies zu verhüten, wird der Hilfsschieber als Kolbenschieber ausgeführt und so angeordnet, dass er nach Anstoss durch den Arbeitskolben durch den Frisehdampf in die Endlagen bewegt und in diesen durch   Frischdampfbeaufschlagung   festgehalten wird.
