Verbindungsmuffe fiir Bleikabel.

Connection sleeve for lead cable.
In the case of connection sleeves for lead bells consisting of inner and outer sleeves, the filling compound must be poured into the outer sleeve very slowly so that the tightly filled inner sleeve, which is completely sealed by soldered screw plugs, does not explode or the lead jacket of the cable is not expanded by the resulting very strong thermal stresses. The outer sleeve should therefore only be filled slowly and gradually.
In order to shorten this time-consuming work, which is entirely dependent on the conscientiousness of the fitter, an inner sleeve is arranged according to the invention, which is provided with a standpipe or expansion vessel known per se, which allows the volume of the impregnating substance to change. In this way, with connection sleeves consisting of inner and outer sleeves, the advantage is achieved that the inner sleeve is prevented from bursting or the lead sheaths from expanding when the outer sleeve is poured out. The standpipe or
The expansion vessel is provided with an opening that remains open until the outer sleeve is completely filled or its bulk has cooled down completely. Then the filling of the standpipe is sucked up to Z, a certain brand, the pipe is screwed and soldered. A tube with a cap, which is connected to the outer sleeve, protects the standpipe against damage.
In Fig. 1 of the drawing, an embodiment is shown. Cable 1 is connected to cable 2

is. To protect the sleeve 3, the outer sleeve 7 is used with the opening S through which the standpipe 5 passes. A protective tube 9 with a closure cap 10 is attached to the opening 8. A mark H in the standpipe 5 shows the extent to which the filling compound is to be sucked off with the screw 6 before it is closed.
When dismantling the sleeve, the standpipe is first opened, which prevents any impermissible pressure in the inner sleeve when the potting compound is melted out. If the standpipe cannot be opened, the air buffer between the filling compound and the screw plug is sufficient to reduce the pressure to a safe level by heating it up.
In order to give the impregnating mass the possibility of being able to expand and contract, a compensation space can be arranged according to the invention at the end of the standpipe.
The compensation space can be a larger vessel. The standpipe and vessel can consist of one piece, but a special interchangeable vessel can also be arranged on the standpipe so that vessels of different sizes can be placed on the standpipe according to the individual cable lengths, the size of the vessel increasing with the length of the cable. Is used as a soaking agent z. If, for example, oil is used, the vessel can be filled with a gas that is indifferent to oil in order to protect the oil from air admission and thus from decomposition, or the oil can pass through with air filling

his. When the impregnating agent expands, it will rise in the standpipe or at the bottom of the vessel and compress the gas or air.
The increase in volume of the impregnating agent is thus compensated for by the compression of the gas or air with a relatively slight increase in pressure. The increase in pressure can be controlled by appropriate dimensioning and shape of the vessel.

is closed gas-tight with a screw 28, expanded. In FIG. 3, 24 is a round vessel which is screwed onto the standpipe 25. The vessel is closed with the screw 26. The base area of the vessel is so large that, even if the impregnating agent expands considerably, it only rises slightly and the pressure in the vessel increases only very slightly.
