Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Steel alloys for the production of objects hardened in the edge zones by embroidery.
EMI1.1
included individually or in any combination. Such objects, however, if they are made from the steel alloys used hitherto, as a result of the heating required to produce the stitching and the subsequent gradual cooling in their unhardened core zone, easily assume a state which is known as temper brittleness and which is very undesirable.
The aim of the invention is to create steel alloys from which the counter-walls produced not only assume particularly large halves when embroidered in their edge zones, but also through insensitivity to initial brittleness and other good strength properties
EMI1.2
achieves that the steel alloys used necessarily have 0'5 to 2% aluminum and a carbon content of up to 0-6% as well as optionally silicon, manganese, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium, titanium or zirconium, individually or in any combination, in total from 0-5 to 4% included.
The hardness of the edge zone and the strength properties of the core zone take on particularly advantageous values when the objects are made from steel alloys with 0-5 to 2% aluminum and 0-5 to 3% chromium.
