Dust separator for cut tobacco leaves, tea leaves or the like.
It is known to pneumatically convey the cut cigarette tobacco from the tobacco cutting machine to a dust separator. The dust separator consists of a container that is closed on all sides, into which on the one hand the line carrying the cut tobacco opens and on the other hand a suction line connected to an exhaustor emanates. The suction line is branched off from the top of the container or near it. A sieve is connected between the feed line opening and the suction line opening in such a way that the tobacco falling from the sieve can be removed from the bottom of the container through an emptying opening.
For a thorough dedusting of the cut tobacco, which, by the way, also includes textile fibers and the like. Like. Impurities with it, it is important that not only the so-called coarse dust particles are removed, but above all a practically complete separation of the specifically particularly light dust particles. Complete dust separation in this sense cannot be achieved with the sieve effect alone; only when, according to the invention, the tobacco stream trickling down through the suction air stream is flushed through, the goal is achieved.
Accordingly, the new dust separator is designed so that the feed line of the cut tobacco ends in a special box open at the bottom, the walls of which consist entirely or partially of sieves and is inserted into the container connected to the suction line in such a way that this container fits the box at a distance surrounding coat forms. The feed pipe expediently opens tangentially into the insert box with a circular profile in cross section, the ceiling and the side walls of this box being made of solid walls except for an annular surface located below the junction.
If, according to the invention, air inlet openings are provided below the bottom opening of the insert box in the wall of the otherwise closed container by means of throttle slide or the like Dust particles kidnapped. A strong suction air effect is exerted on the tobacco first, so to speak, in the insert box equipped with a sieve wall, while later the freely falling tobacco is subjected to a second flush with the aid of a weaker suction air flow carrying fresh air.
In this way, the tobacco is practically completely freed from all dust particles, in particular also the fibrous and specifically light ones, which dust particles have just been recognized as carriers of the most bitter substances and substances that are most impaired to the tobacco taste.
The device is not only for the treatment of cut tobacco, but also of other similar goods, such as. B. cut tea leaves u. Like., suitable.
The figures in the drawing serve to explain the invention in more detail. Figure 1 is a vertical cross-section through the new dust collector. FIG. 2 is a horizontal cross-section taken along line 2-2 of FIG. FIG. 3 is a horizontal cross-section taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1.
The feed line a for the cut tobacco coming from the tobacco cutting machine opens into the container b, which is closed on all sides, near its ceiling. The mouth c of the suction line connected to an exhaustor is centrally located in the ceiling of this container.
An insert box d is inserted into the container b in such a way that the container b forms a casing surrounding the box d at a distance; So there is a box between the insert box and the container

Annulus e. The walls of the insert box d are completely designed except for an annular surface which is below the confluence of the feed pipe a and which is formed by a sieve f. The insert box is open at the bottom at g.
From Fig. 2 it can be seen that the pipe a opens tangentially into the insert box d below the ceiling d '. As a result, the tobacco particles entering through the tube a are forced to move along the wall of the insert box d, which has a circular cross-section, and to move further downward in spiral windings.
The suction air flow acting through the opening c 'is fully effective at the ring sieve f.
So here the coarse dust particles etc. are first separated from the tobacco, after which the tobacco falls down through the opening g. According to the invention, air inlet openings h for the outside air are provided below the opening g in the wall of the container b. As can be seen from FIG. 3, these air inlet openings are arranged in a tangential direction and equipped with throttle slides i, which allow the air supply to be regulated. The incoming fresh air will flush through the falling tobacco in eddies due to the tangentially directed inlet nozzle and separate the fine and light dust particles from it, which are still left over from the previous rough cleaning. The air containing these last deposited dust particles is drawn up through the annular channel e.
The cleaned tobacco, however, falls into the chambers 7c, which are formed by a turnstile I, which forms the lower end of the container b in a manner known per se. The turnstile conveys the tobacco into a collecting container m.
