Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Verfahren zur Gewinnung von konzentrierter Essigsäure a, us verdünnter Essigsäure.

Process for the production of concentrated acetic acid from dilute acetic acid.
In the parent patent no. 117858, the extracting agent used to obtain concentrated acetic acid from dilute, according to the process described in patent no. 106231, is in water
EMI1.1
organic compounds containing hydroxyl groups, e.g. B. higher aliphatic alcohols, phenols or phenol-containing raw materials, which do not form a system of low boiling point with water in such a mass that the extraction process would be impaired.
It has now been found that the esters of cyclic, in particular polybasic, carboxylic acids are particularly suitable as extraction agents because they have very high boiling points, great stability and very low volatility. As such come z. B. dibutyl phthalate, dihexyl phthalate, neutral phthalic acid esters of glycol or glycerol, and also the methyl, ethyl and butyl esters of naphthenic acids. These esters can primarily be used where tar-free acetic acid vapors are concentrated, for example when the waste acetic acid is re-concentrated in cellulose acetate production.
The losses resulting from the volatility with water vapor and the solubility, especially of the esters with higher alcohols, are so low that their use provides a great technical advantage. For example, dibutyl o-phthalate boils at 310-320 and the solubility of this ester in water is less than 1%. The way of working is the same as in the parent patent.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Special embodiment of the process for obtaining concentrated acetic acid from dilute acetic acid according to parent patent no. 117858, characterized in that esters of mono- or polybasic cyclic carboxylic acids with monohydric or polyhydric alcohols are used as the extractant.
