Description

Process for the production of cements of any kind.

It has already been proposed to produce a molten cement by adding clay and constituents containing alumina to the mixture of phosphate, sand and coal used for the production of phosphorus or phosphorus pentoxide (or phosphoric acid) by the volatilization process.

This method has the disadvantage that the total amount of slag that has to be melted in the furnace, based on the phosphorus obtained or on the phosphorus-containing products, is greatly increased compared to the method without additives. The consequence of this is that, in relation to the production of phosphorus, a greater expenditure of energy and a larger furnace are required, and at the same time the loss of phosphorus due to the fact that the amount of eye sheets is increased and a low phosphorus content always remains in the slag is also increased.

Attempts have already been made to avoid these disadvantages by proposing to operate the phosphorus furnace discontinuously, in such a way that phosphorus is first expelled in a special operation by fusing phosphates, sand and coal, whereupon alumina-containing aggregates are added to the molten slag in the same furnace can be added to obtain a molten cement. In view of the known disadvantages of discontinuous operation, this process too cannot be regarded as a completely satisfactory solution to the problem.

The present method now avoids these disadvantages by, according to the invention, to the
 EMI1.1
the content of the slag is sufficient to form the cement clinker; if this is not the case, after the liquid slag and the aggregates have been transferred into a separate furnace, melting can take place there
