Cathode arrangement for indirectly heated vacuum tubes.
The invention relates to a new design of the cathodes for indirectly heated tubes, in particular for those that are connected to alternating current networks. In these known tubes, the disadvantage has been shown that in particular then. when they are switched as an audion. the alternating voltages that are required for heating cause a fluctuating grid cathode potential and thus a distortion of the reception. According to the present invention, this disadvantage is eliminated in that the radiator is shielded from the emitting layer.
This is achieved in that the resistance wire heated by the alternating current is completely or partially enclosed by a metallic hose or grid in such a way that the heating wire is shielded from the emitting cathode layer and the other electrodes. The disruptive effect of the alternating current is completely eliminated if, according to the further invention, the protective hose is led out of the tube and connected to a certain potential. so that an electrostatic connection between the active cathode and the grid and the anode is avoided. Both ends can also be led out of the tube and the harmful potential fluctuations can be compensated for by means of a corresponding direct or alternating current potential.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the electrode arrangement according to the present invention.
1 means the active layer of the cathode,: 2 the insulation protection and: 3 the heating wire. 4 is the metallic protective tube forming the subject of the invention or the metal hose, which is optionally led out of the tube and contains the supply line to the heating wire insulated by glass or quartz beads 5 from the metal hose. 6 is the control grid, which can be arranged in a known manner in a spiral around the incandescent body.
PATENT CLAIMS:
