<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Surface capacitor.
The invention relates to a surface condenser, in which the cooling water supplied from below between two water chambers, which are divided into separate rooms by partitions, flows back and forth in pipes at least twice and flows off at the top of the condenser, and consists in that the chamber partitions, which delimit the spaces to which the cooling water first flows, have a part running diagonally against the longitudinal center plane of the condenser, above which only the mouths of pipes through which the coldest cooling water flows, while immediately below this part only mouths from into another space of the relevant There are pipes opening into the chamber through which already heated cooling water flows.
This ensures that, despite the cooling water supply from below, part of the steam to be precipitated first comes into contact with pipes through which the coldest water flows.
In the drawing, various versions of the subject invention are illustrated, for example, u. between shows: Fig. 1 is a diagrammatic representation of such a condenser with a dual water path, the cover of one water chamber and the largest number of cooling

quadruple waterway and FIG. 3 shows a cross section through a condenser with a triple waterway.
In Fig. 2 and 3 the flow direction is from front to back through x, from back to front through. indicated.
In FIG. 1, 1 denotes cooling pipes which connect a front water chamber 2 and a rear water chamber 3. These tubes are inserted into the walls 4.5 of these chambers. The front water chamber is divided into three compartments 8, 9 and 10 by two partition walls 6 and 7, respectively. Each of these intermediate walls 6, 7 has a part 61 or 71 running obliquely against the longitudinal center plane of the capacitor. Each of the side compartments 8, 9 is provided with a supply line 11 and 12 for the cooling water. At the upper end of the middle department 10 located between the departments 8, 9 is a drain L? connected for the cooling water.
In the departments 8, 9 above the parts 61, 71 there are only openings of cooling tubes 1 through which the coldest cooling water flows, whereas in the department 10 directly below these parts 61, 71 only openings of cooling tubes 1 are located that are already heated Cooling water are flowed through. To the left of the lower vertical part of the partition wall 6 or to the right of the lower vertical part of the partition wall 7 there are also openings of cooling pipes 1 through which the coldest cooling water flows.
The cooling water enters the lateral compartments 8, 9 of the water chamber 2 from below in the direction of the arrows A and first flows through groups of cooling tubes 1, their mouths in the water chamber 2 between the lower vertical part of the partition walls 6, 7 and the condenser jacket and above of the inclined parts 61, 71 are located to then get into the second water chamber 3, where it is deflected downwards. Then it flows after having covered the second waterway, i. H. after flowing through a further number of cooling tubes 1, into the middle compartment 10

to leave the condenser through the nozzle 13.
In this arrangement, where the feed nozzles are connected to the condenser at the bottom, when the condenser is at a standstill, the cooling water is first fed to pipes that at least
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
are partly located above the pipes that form the second waterway, some of the latter always remain filled with water so that the condenser is immediately ready for operation again when the steam engine is started, i.e. H. is not to be filled first.
As a result of the fact that the coldest water is introduced into the chamber compartments 8, 9, to which the cooling pipes 1 extending practically over the entire height of the condenser are connected, while those connected to the middle compartment 10 only in the lower half of the condenser arranged pipes 1, the warmest cooling water flows, it is achieved that the steam-air mixture to be sucked off through one or more (not shown) nozzles still comes into contact with cooling pipes 1, which are connected to the compartments 8, 9, before leaving the condenser , d. H. with pipes through which the coldest cooling water flows.
EMI2.1
nozzle or the suction nozzle for the steam-air mixture to be removed from the condenser great freedom, since it practically amounts to the same thing, whether these nozzles (not shown) are connected to the condenser chamber at the top or bottom. In addition, the air to be extracted can be cooled to a low temperature without the need to install special cooling pipes in the condensation space.
In addition, the further advantage is achieved that part of the hottest steam first comes into contact with pipes 1 through which the coldest water flows, while the remaining part of the hottest steam comes into contact with pipes 1 through which partially heated water flows. The consequence of all this is that both the described and the yet to be described embodiments, which differ only in details from the first embodiment, a deep air cooling is achieved in a favorable manner with favorable conditions for the precipitation of the steam.
In the condenser according to Fig. 2, which is built for a fourfold waterway, the one water chamber has two compartments 13, 14, each of which is connected to a supply port 15 or 16 for cooling water and on the outside by the condenser jacket, on the inside is limited by a partition 6 or 7 with an inclined part 6 \ or 71. This water chamber also has two compartments 17 and 18 which are surrounded by the compartments 14, 13 and, together with the latter, delimit a central compartment 19 to which a drain connection 20 for the cooling water is connected at the top. The second cooling chamber is divided by a partition wall 21 into two compartments, one of which surrounds the other.
In this condenser, the cooling water first enters the compartments 13, 14 of one water chamber from below in the direction of arrows A, then flows through two groups of cooling tubes in the direction from front to back and, after leaving these groups, enters the upper compartment of the second Water chamber, where it is deflected downwards. After flowing through a second group of cooling tubes in the direction from the back to the front, the cooling water then arrives in the compartments 27 and 18 of the front water chamber, where it is again deflected downwards and then through two further groups of cooling tubes again from the front to the rear to flow, whereupon it enters the lower compartment of the rear water chamber.
After it has been deflected downwards for the third time, it finally flows back through a last group of cooling pipes from the rear to the front into the middle compartment 19 of the front water chamber, which it exits at the top through the outlet connection 20.
According to FIG. 3, one water chamber is divided into two compartments 23, 24 by a partition wall 22 with parts 221 running obliquely against the longitudinal center plane of the condenser, of which
EMI2.2
is closed. The second water chamber is divided into two side compartments 29, 30 and a central compartment 31 by two partition walls 27, 28. A drain connection 32 for the cooling water is connected to the latter.
The cooling water occurs here through the nozzle 25; 26 in the direction of the arrows A from below initially into the compartment 23, then flows through a group of cooling pipes in the direction from the front to the rear to get to the lateral compartments 29, 30 of the second water chamber, where it is deflected downwards becomes. It then flows through two further groups of cooling tubes in the direction from the rear to the front and then reaches the compartment 24 of the front water chamber, where it is deflected downwards for the second time, and then through a middle group of cooling tubes in the direction from the front to the rear flow.
The cooling water thus reaches the middle compartment 31 of the rear water chamber, which it leaves through the nozzle 32 in the direction of arrow C.
