Method of sharp drying of wood.

It is known that such wood, which is to be impregnated with decay-preventing substances, is advantageously subjected to rapid drying in the natural-wet state, since this promotes the formation of deep cracks and crevices. If this process takes place as usual, the drying cannot proceed quickly enough, because on the one hand the water in the wood has to evaporate at normal air pressure and on the other hand the hot L '.-. ft also quickly becomes pregnant with water vapor and because, on the other hand, the excessively heated wood starts to burn easily.

The subject of the present invention is a method by which these overhangs are avoided by sucking the hot air mixed with water vapor from the airtight drying chamber when the wood is heated up rapidly and vigorously, so that an underpressure is created in the chamber . By sucking the air out of the chamber, three advantages are achieved. Firstly, most of the water vapor is released into the open: secondly, the water in the wood evaporates more easily under the negative pressure caused by the suction and thirdly, a fire is prevented because the diluted air lacks the necessary amount of oxygen.

   The airtight

If a particularly high negative pressure is not required in the drying chamber, the sucked-off, still hot air, after the water vapor has been withdrawn from it, can be returned to the chamber for a longer period of time for the process to run.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for sharp drying of wood for the purpose of achieving deep cracks and fissures in the pieces of wood to be impregnated after drying, characterized in that the warm, moist air is sucked out of the drying chamber at the same time as the wood is heated up rapidly and intensely.
