Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Frosthaim fir Wasserleitungen.

Frosthaim for water pipes.
So far, in order to prevent the usual water main taps from freezing, a small auxiliary tap connected directly to the pressure pipe (e.g. at the point indicated by the arrow P in the drawing) has been provided, which remained open at all times when there was frost or danger of frost. This arrangement has the disadvantage that the spray effect of the jet exiting under high pressure and displaced from the normal outlet, the drainage basin and ultimately also its drainage itself strongly iced up.
This inconvenience is prevented with the frost tap according to the invention in that, if there is a risk of frost, a strongly throttled, therefore practically almost pressureless outflow of the water takes place through the main tap via a special bypass line.
In the drawing, 1 denotes the housing of the tap, 2 the shut-off cone which separates the pressure line 3 from the discharge line 4. A plaster cast laterally above the pressure line on the housing neck is denoted by 5, which has a horizontal through-hole 6, the outer opening of which is closed by the plug 7 and which communicates with the space 8 above the shut-off cone 2.
EMI1.1
No amount of water exerting any spray effect from the pressure line 3 via the channels 9, 6, the space 8 and the outlet pipe 11 is going on.
