Electric iron with handle switch.
The subject of the invention is an electric iron with a handle switch which switches off automatically and which can be locked in the switched-on position. The subject matter of the invention differs from known designs of such irons in that the handle of the iron is rotatably arranged as a whole and at its end carries the bridging contact (or contacts) causing the current circuit, in the position of use it produces the current circuit and in this position by a can be determined on it articulated part.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the locking member for the handle is formed by an angle lever, one arm of which is designed as a retaining pawl, while the other arm serves as a surface for the hand or any other support on which the handle is used for maintenance purposes a permanent contact can be supported.
Only the jumper contact, which is insensitive to vibrations, is attached to the movable handle itself, while the lead wires and their connections are separated from the handle and placed in the iron body or in a part connected to this iron body, so that they do not take part in the movement of the handle.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment, u. Between FIG. 1 shows the iron in the open position and FIG. 2 in the switched-on position.
The handle 3 is rotatably attached about the axis 4 to the iron body with the interposition of a part 2. A spring 5 seeks to keep the handle 3 in the switched-off position according to FIG. An angle lever 6 is inserted into the handle 3, which is rotatable about an axis 7 mounted in the handle and of which one arm 6 ′ is designed as a retaining pawl which cooperates with a hook 8 fastened to the part 2. The handle 3 carries the bridge contact 9 on its free end, which bridges the connection contacts 10 and 11 in the switched-on position (FIG. 2). The handle switch will generally be single-pole, but it can of course also be double-pole.
The lead wires intended for connection to a plug contact are indicated at 12 and 13.
In order to bring the iron into the position of use according to FIG. 2, the handle 3 is pressed down, the bridging contact 9 connecting the connection contacts 10, 11 so that a current connection is established. By the same handle with which the handle 3 is pressed down, the arm 6 ″ of the angle lever 6 is also pressed upwards about its axis 7 and the pawl 6 ′ is brought into engagement with the hook 8. The iron is now ready for use.
