An

Brush holders for electrical machines.
In the case of brush holders, the brush has to be easily lifted by lifting the brush that generates the pressure
Spiral ribbon spring can be exposed in order to inspect the running surface of the brush or to be able to change the brush. In addition, when the spring is put back on, the previously set brush pressure must be available again in order to make readjustment superfluous.
These requirements are not met in the known brush holders with a worm gear for fine adjustment of the tension of the spiral strip spring generating the brush pressure. In the case of brush holders of this type, setting the correct brush pressure not only requires a certain degree of skill, but the setting also requires a more or less long time, which often leads to undesirable malfunctions.
According to the invention, in a brush holder of this type, the winding core of the spiral ribbon spring can be rotated and locked independently of the worm gear, so that the spiral spring can be pretensioned independently of the worm gear. This has the advantage that the spiral strip spring can be easily pivoted back so that the running surface of the brush can be inspected or the brush can be replaced. In addition, there is a guarantee that the brush pressure previously set by means of the worm gear is restored, since the connection between the winding core and the worm is such that even after coupling, which always takes place at one and the same point, the mutual position of the winding core and adjusting member is exactly the same as before.
It is therefore not necessary to readjust the brush pressure.
The necessary connection of the winding core with the worm is advantageously carried out in that the worm wheel is attached to the winding core and the worm sits on a support plate which can be rotated about the rocker arm and which is connected to a rotary pawl to be coupled to the spring housing.
In the drawing, two embodiments of the spring tensioning device for a brush holder are shown, u. Between FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of an embodiment, FIG. 2 shows a front view and FIG. 3 shows the top view of the device, while FIGS. 4-6 illustrate individual views of the device. 7 is the front view of a second embodiment, FIG. 8 is the side view of FIG. 7 and FIG. 9 shows FIG. 7 in a different operating position.
In the barrel h of the brush holder shown in Fig. 1-6, the winding core m of a spiral spring t is mounted in a transverse bore, which carries a worm wheel e on its front and in its bearing bore by a disk p and a split pin q (Fig. 3) is secured. The inner end a of the spring t (Fig. 4) engages in a longitudinal slot f of the winding core m (Fig. 5), while its outer end g protrudes like a lever and serves as a pressure finger that lies on the carbon brush k, which is in the Box i is guided longitudinally.
A worm c engages in the worm wheel of the winding core m, the upper end of which is provided with a knurled knob s Lt. The worm e rests in bearing eyes U, a support plate M loosely mounted on the winding core m, which lies between the worm wheel e and the housing h and by means of a pawl d articulated on its eye 1J which, when folded, into a detent r (Fig. 2 ) engages the housing 11, can be determined. The catch r is turned back a little, and the pawl d rests firmly in it when the spring t, which acts on the pawl through the worm gear mechanism e, e, is tensioned.
If, therefore, the support plate it is rotated by means of the pawl d after the carbon brush k has been inserted, that 13ie comes into the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, in which the pawl cl is latched, then lays

so that the spring t, g can be raised and thereby brought out of the area of the carbon brush / c.
After replacing the brush, only the pawl d needs to be brought back behind the latch l '.
It is then guaranteed that the brush pressure, which was previously fine-tuned with the aid of the worm c, is restored, provided of course that the new brush has the same length. However, this is practically the case. The replacement of a brush can therefore be carried out very quickly, which may be of essential importance.
In the embodiment of the brush holder according to FIGS. 7-9, the spiral ribbon spring l, g is also attached to the winding core 1n. On one end of the winding core sits loosely the worm wheel e, in which the worm c engages, which is only rotatably mounted about its axis in the barrel ha. At
EMI2.2
Pin x fastened rotatably in the longitudinal direction of the winding core and the worm wheel e is provided with a detent 1'1 with which the pawl cl1 can be brought into engagement.
If the spiral strip spring t, g is placed on the carbon brush k, the spring is tensioned in that the pawl d1 is rotated until it engages behind the detent 1'1 of the worm wheel e. The fine adjustment of the spring tension and thus the brush pressure can now be made by turning the screw c. This rotation is the worm wheel e, and there with this through the
EMI2.3
only the latch cl1 to be triggered. The winding core m can then rotate freely about its axis, so that the spiral band spring t, g can be lifted off in order to expose the brush. After inserting the new brush and applying the spring t, g, the pawl cl1 is again brought into engagement with the detent 1'1.
Since the worm gear mechanism c, e has retained its setting position, there is also a guarantee that after the pawl d1 has been re-engaged, the brush pressure remains the same as before after the brush has been replaced.
As shown in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1-6, a rotatable pawl is connected to the winding core, by the rotation of which the spiral ribbon spring is tensioned. The pawl is then coupled to the housing, but not directly with it, but indirectly by the pawl d1 being brought behind the detent 1'1 of the worm wheel e and this with the worm c, which is only rotatably mounted about its axis in the barrel h1 is engaged. Here, too, this coupling takes place in such a way that, despite the coupling, the core m can be rotated further by the gear mechanism e, c which is used for fine adjustment of the spring tension.
