Fig. 2 ist eine Darauf. sicht derselben.

Method and apparatus for the preparation of resin solutions for paper manufacture u. like. on the cold road.
The present invention relates to a process with a device, which makes it possible to obtain cold resin solutions which can be used especially for gluing paper or cardboard, but generally also in all cases where otherwise resin slurries or glue milk are used used, which one has previously obtained through the mediation of an alkali soap; for example, the industries of color varnish and color pigments may be mentioned.
Two measures are required for the production of resin suspensions according to the usual process: First, an alkali resin soap is produced by heating the resin to 1000 with a concentrated solution of soda. The soap obtained in this way generally contains a total of 20-80% resin.
This soap is then dissolved in warm water in order to obtain a resin suspension, the so-called glue milk, which usually contains 2-5% resin. This suspension is opaque and more or less white, the resin is contained in it in the form of particles which have a noticeable size.
In other known processes, the use of heat is avoided by first comminuting the resin to the finest possible in the presence of water in order to obtain a resin emulsion.
The main features of the registered procedure are:
Production of a solution of the concentration of the so-called glue milk in a single operation, production in uninterrupted plants, always cold work, use of resin that has not been subjected to mechanical pretreatment, but only broken into large pieces so that it can be broken down into the Can introduce apparatus. The solutions obtained are completely transparent because the resin is in a molecular state. The solutions are obtained automatically with a constant concentration of resin.
In order to carry out the process described here, a cold solution of caustic soda is applied directly to the resin. The cold reaction with a satisfactory yield is only possible for weak sodium hydroxide concentrations of less than 7 g caustic soda per liter.
In order to carry out the release of the resin according to this method, the device shown for example in the accompanying drawing can be used with advantage.
Figure 1 is a section through this device on line a-b of Figure 2. Figure 2 is a plan view. view of the same.
The caustic soda solution is successively passed through vertical towers A filled with resin, the number, diameter and height of which vary according to the amount of solution to be obtained
EMI1.1
you can change the resin content according to the set line at will, the caustic soda solution of the device z. B. fed by a pump B, each of which ensures consistent performance.
In the device chosen, the solution is pumped into a container C with an overflow, from where it flows through the towers and finally reaches a storage container E provided for the resin solution. Special precautions can be taken to ensure that the supply of the caustic soda solution stops automatically as soon as the storage container E is full.
