Gastroskop.

Gastroscope.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a gastroscope which eliminates the dangers that may arise when the gastroscopes conventionally used hitherto are introduced into the human body. The new gastroscope is equipped in a known manner with a curved beak for the lighting device and, in addition to the lateral outward opening, also has a viewing opening lying in the axial direction of the gastroscope body.
According to the invention, these two viewing openings are arranged in relation to one another in such a way that it is possible to simultaneously look straight ahead through the opening in the axial direction and through the lateral opening towards the tip of the beak with a single observation tube.
With this device, injury to the esophagus when inserting the gastroscope can be avoided with great certainty, since both the part of the esophagus located in the axial direction and the area at the tip of the beak can now be continuously observed during insertion.
The lighting device is expediently designed in the new device so that the light is emitted both in the axial direction and in the direction of the lateral view.
In the drawing, the head of a gastroscope corresponding to the invention is shown in a longitudinal section as an example.
A tube a forming the body of the gastroscope carries a at its upper end

On the sides of the bulb are two windows ci and c, inserted into the tube wall. A window d sits where the main axis of the pipe meets the pipe wall; another window e sits on the side of the pipe. To introduce the gastroscope, a tube f, which contains the optical parts, is pushed into the tube a. Of these, only the objective g1, g2 and an erecting lens h are shown in the drawing.
With the tube f one can observe during the introduction both through the window d in the direction of introduction and through the window e the area towards which the tip of the beak is directed. Both parts of the field of view are illuminated by the incandescent lamp b. Once the gastroscope has been inserted, it is reversed
