Process for the production of bench bases or similar vessel parts on thick-walled sheet metal by pressing.
The invention relates to a method for producing boiler bottoms or similar vessel parts from thick-walled sheet metal, in particular from aluminum. Up to now, such boiler bottoms could only be made by hammering, since the usual methods only resulted in frayed and uneven edges. It has now been found that this hammering in the manufacture of such boiler bottoms can be replaced by pressing when pressing alternately over a raised and into a recessed shape. In order to produce the curvature or crown, it is pressed into a recessed shape, both over a raised shape and after the workpiece has been inverted.
It is known that in the production of small thin-walled objects such as cans, egg cups and the like. To press the like alternately over raised and recessed forms, since pressing such small, thin-walled vessels poses no difficulties at all, it could not be concluded from this that alternating pressing over raised and recessed forms is a substitute for expensive and time-consuming hammering in the difficult production of thick-walled, large boiler floors u. Like. Will be able to.
According to the invention, for. B. the vaulted floors of thick-walled transport kettles made of aluminum in such a way that the edge is first flanged over a raised shape by pressing. After this flanging has been produced, the workpiece is then turned over and cambered into a recessed shape by pressing it. This pressing over the raised shape and pressing into the recessed shape is repeated alternately several times if necessary, if it is the production of strong deformations or the use of very strong sheets.
In the case of workpieces that have a central opening, which is usually the case with the large boiler bottoms, it is useful to produce the rim in such a way that the workpiece is clamped between the faceplate and the mold and then pressed onto the raised mold with pressure steels or rollers becomes. It may be useful to design the pressure rollers as double rollers and to make them conical, to distribute them symmetrically around the circumference and then to generate the necessary pressure against the printing forme by pressing them between the faceplate and the workpiece without loading the bearings of the printing bench.
The usually necessary heating of the workpiece is best done by directly heating it, for example by means of a flame arranged below, whereby when the workpiece is clamped between the faceplate and the mold, the latter is also heated and can serve for heat transfer and as a heat store.
