Process for patterning the surface of hat stumps by color printing.

Various methods are known for patterning hat stumps by color printing. The pillars are printed by hand with the help of stencils, printing models, spraying methods or a printing machine working with engraved printing rollers is used in a similar way to the Kattundruek. In all of these processes, the pattern is first applied to the completely finished stump, which is then clearly recognizable as a color print.

The method according to the invention uses one of the known color printing or patterning methods, only the printing or application of the pattern is not only carried out after the stump has been completely finished, but the patterning is moved to an earlier stage of production because the colored pattern is already there applied to the not yet or half-finished milled felt and this is only then finished. The pattern of the felt can be done with one of the usual printing processes, but the effect as a result of further processing by milling the felt is significantly different. The sharp edges of the pattern that appears worked into the felt disappear.

The stump treated in this way can be removed in the usual way with the rubbing or polishing
 EMI1.1
Finishing is applied, suffers from machining. The pattern worked into the felt gives it an appearance similar to a fabric, especially when mottled (mixed) hat felts are used. The felt can be subjected to the process according to the invention in a dyed or undyed state.
 EMI1.2
Stripe pattern can be of any kind, e.g. B. is applied by means of a print model. After the felt has been rolled to completion, the finished stump shows the printed pattern approximately as illustrated in FIG.
 EMI1.3
Treatment, e.g. B. to increase the gloss, are subjected without the pattern suffering.

A large number of new effects can be achieved with the method according to the invention.
