Den Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung bilden zur Erzeugung von Tabletten aus schabende Material, wie z. B. Braunstein geeignete Stanzen, Schnitte und Stempel. Während die bisher für die Erzeugung von Tabletten und Briketts aus Braunstein dienenden Werkzeuge aus Stahl nach Gebrauch von wenigen Stunden fortgeworfen werden mussten, bleiben Stahlstempel derselben Qualität, wenn sie mit einem dünnen Überzug von hartem widerstandsfähigem Material, u. zw. Chrom, überzogen werden, eine Woche und auch noch länger arbeitsfähig, wobei selbst eine mikroskopische Untersuchung keine Korrosion oder Abnutzung zeigte.
Chrom ist ausserordentlich hart und behält seinen platinartigen Glanz für lange Zeit bei und widersteht einer Korrosion sehr lange. Die Stanzen oder Schnitte werden zweckmässig elektrolytisch überzogen, wobei Stahl seine Härte nicht verliert. Die besten Resultate werden erhalten, wenn man als Elektrolyt die bekannte Sargent's Lösung verwendet, die 245 g Chromsäure und 3 9 Chromsulfat pro Liter enthält und eine Stromdichte von 13'4 Amp. pro Quadratdezimeter und eine Chromanode benutzt.
