Description

  Refrigerants for chillers.

It has already been proposed to use methyl chloride or mixtures of this chloride with ethyl or methyl alcohol as a refrigerant for refrigeration machines in order to prevent ice formation in the machines. It has now been shown that when a certain mixing ratio of methyl

 alcohol (CH3 0 H).

Unlike methyl chloride, this mixture does not have the tendency to form crystals or a kind of sludge at relatively low temperatures, such as -20 to -24 C, which makes passage through the opening of the expansion valve difficult.

The specified mixture is also easily volatile. According to current knowledge, it boils at about -26 to -270 C.

Their heat of vaporization is greater than that of the known refrigerants. Also, when used, the lubricant remains suspended in the liquid and is introduced into the compressor while practically maintaining its full lubricity.

Another advantage is that, according to tests, it liquefies at 15 to 16 0 ('under a pressure of around 3 atm.
