Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the continuous separation of sulfur from sulfur solutions.
The process is based on the experience that when sulfur crystallizes out of sulfur solutions, more or less large amounts of the solvent are included. To avoid this inclusion and to be able to recover pure sulfur on the one hand and pure solvent on the other hand, the sulfur solution is introduced into a vessel G (see FIG.), Which z. B. has a cylindrical shape and is heated on all sides. About halfway up this cylindrical vessel is a plate (impact device) B, which is heated slightly above the boiling temperature of the solvent, but at least above the melting temperature of the sulfur, which can be designed in the form of a spherical cap, a double-walled sieve, or also conical and similar onto which the enamel solution drips.
When dripping on, the sulfur separates out with evaporation of the solvent and flows melted over the edges of this plate into the lower part of the vessel, from which it can be drawn off in the known manner by switching on a siphon. The resulting sulfur is of exceptional purity. The solvent vapors which are drawn off can be condensed in a known manner and reused.
One embodiment of the method works as follows (see attached drawing): The solution of sulfur in the solvent runs at A into a cylindrical vessel G, which is surrounded on all sides and also on the bottom by a heating jacket. When dripping on the radiator B, the solvent evaporates and the resulting sulfur is from the z. B. melted to 1200 heated radiators and flows into the lower part of the vessel. The siphon D allows the sulfur to be discharged continuously or at certain times; through 0 the evaporated solvent escapes in pure form and can be condensed in a cooler.
