Drive for the depositing device of rope-forming cigarette machines
As is known, the cigarettes emerging from the strand chute of the strand cigarette machine are conveyed to a depository by means of a depositing device. In the case of cigarettes with a mouthpiece covering, this depositing device also takes over the separation of the cigarettes into two stacks with mouthpieces oriented in the same direction. The laying device consists of a moving body, the speed of which is related to the speed of the strand. The depositing device can be designed in various ways; she can z. B. exist in a drum, which is equipped on its circumference with chambers for receiving a cigarette.
It can also consist of a turntable, on the circumference of which means are provided for gripping the incoming cigarettes, which, after a predetermined further rotation of the turntable, deliver the cigarettes to the depository. If the strand speed is changed, the speed of the depositing device must naturally also be changed accordingly so that the chambers, grippers or the like of the depositing device are always in the correct working rhythm with the strand advance.
The regulation can be achieved simply by connecting the drive of the depositing device to the drive for the strand formation, whereby a corresponding change in the speed of the depositing device occurs automatically when the strand speed is changed.
EMI1.1
consists in the fact that the cigarettes emerging from the strand channel travel a trajectory before they come into contact with the depositing device.
The trajectory becomes greater with increasing strand speed, from which it follows that the times which the cigarettes need to move from the strand channel to the depositing device change. As soon as the machine then works at the new speed after several changes in speed, the time which the cigarette needs to travel from the strand channel to the depositing device becomes constant again.
If one were to simply change the speed of the depositing device accordingly when changing the line speed, the changed flight time would not yet be taken into account. After the speed change has taken place, the cigarette would no longer reach the place of the depositing device which is to be taken into account. A compensation has to take place beforehand by first forcing the depositing device to lag behind a little when the line speed is increased, corresponding to the longer period of time for the travel of the cigarettes from the channel to the depositing device. Conversely, as the line speed decreases, the depositing device must lead a little, corresponding to the shorter flight time of the cigarettes.
Once the correct ratio is established, the speeds of the strand and the laying device must match.
The invention aims to bring about the compensation described. For this purpose, a differential gear is switched into the drive of the depositing device in such a way that when the speed of the strand changes in the sense of increasing the speed, the depositing device is temporarily left behind until its receiving means has reached the correct position for receiving the cigarette and, conversely, leading the laying device takes place when the strand speed is reduced. The differential gear is set in relation to the starter lever of the machine, so that when switching to a new speed, the aforementioned leading or lagging of the depositing device occurs automatically.

The figures in the drawing serve to explain the invention in more detail. 1 shows the relationship between the new drive device and the drives of the machine or the drives of the depositing device. FIG. 2 is a vertical cross section along the line 2-2 of FIG. 1 on a reduced scale, and FIG. 3 is a vertical cross section along the line 3-. 3 of Fig. 1 also on a reduced scale.
The shaft h is not shown with the drive shaft of the machine by known means such. B. Gear counters rotated constantly. From this shaft held captive in the bearing I, the rotation is to be transmitted to the coaxial shaft i, which is inserted in the bearing m.
The transmission takes place through the bevel gears e, f, g. The two bevel gears t and g sit on the ends of the shafts i and h, while the bevel gear e, which meshes with these two bevel gears, is carried by a bolt which is inserted in the bushing p. This sleeve is carried by a U-shaped bracket d. The bevel gear e is arranged freely rotatable on the bolt o.
With its two eyes d, the bracket d encompasses the bearings I and m, so that the bracket is thus around the longitudinal axes of the shafts h. and i can swing. If the bracket is pivoted in one direction or the other about the longitudinal axis of the shafts i, then the bevel gear e is taken along; it rolls on the bevel gears f and g.
EMI2.1
screw q rests on a cantilever v. In this position, the shaft h transmits its rotation to the shaft i through the bevel gearing e, t, g.
But as soon as the wing d is pivoted to one side or the other and the bevel gear e rolls on the drive bevel gear, an acceleration or a delay in the transmission of the rotary movement is caused in a known manner, so that the shaft i is either faster or slower than is rotated before.
The bracket v consists of a lever, which with one eye! / The bearing i! includes, so seated pivotable on the bearing l. At the free end, the lever carries a roller c with which it rests on a lifting disk b designed as a sector. This lifting disc is mounted on an axle & which is held captive in the bearing s. An adjusting lever a sits on the axle. The control lever a is the starter lever of the machine, so that by turning the axis k the machine is started or the speed
EMI2.2
of the machine can be moved from the idle pulley to a drive pulley and, by further turning, to another drive pulley, which provides a higher speed, etc.
Since the lifting sector b is now attached to the axis 7c, it is inevitably also adjusted by the adjusting lever a. The adjustment of the sector b has the effect that the lever v, whose role rests on the lifting surface of the sector, is also swung out. The oscillation of the lever v, however, causes the bracket d to be carried along. However, if the bracket cl is rotated about the longitudinal centers of the shafts h, i, then the bevel gear e rolls on the bevel gears f, g, and there is an acceleration or deceleration in the transmission of the movement from the shaft h to the shaft i . The drive of the shaft i is therefore inevitably and automatically dependent on the speed setting of the cigarette machine.
The shaft i drives the depositing device, i. H. the device that picks up the cigarettes delivered from the strand chute and conveys them to the deposit point. They are there
