<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

and at 19 has a guide ring for the rope 20 used to actuate the hook. The latter is preferably a Bowden cable and connected to a handle 21, which is in the area of the disabled driver, for. B. is attached to the guides of the swingable steering lever 4.
The jaws of the clips 9 each have two matching cavities 22 and 2. 3. As soon as they are closed under the action of the spring 10, these cavities form two cylindrical bearing eyes with the approximate diameter of the wheel axle. 6th
In the rest position, the axle 6 is in the bearing eye 22, but is stored in the other eye 23 as soon as the wheel rolls on the plate 13, as well as during the adjustment of this plate back into its rest position. When the axis passes from one bearing eye to the other, the jaws of the clips 9 open (FIG. 8). The support rod 11 for the plate 1.3 carries a claw which, for the purpose of bringing about the rest position, interacts with a contact surface attached to the wheel fork.
Each rear wheel 3 carries a similar plate 24 which is connected by rods 25, 26 corresponding to rods 11 and 12 to clips 9 which are arranged on both sides of the wheels on their axis 27

in the bearing eyes 2. 3 as soon as the wheels roll on their plates. As a result of the greater length of the plates 24, a connecting link strut 25a supporting them can be provided.
The plates are held in the rest position by lifting hooks 28, which are held by a catch hook-3. 3 are detected, which consists of a correspondingly shaped piece of metal attached to one of the rigid

comes to rest.
The two bars 28 retaining the plates 24 are connected to one another by a cable 29 in order to be able to actuate them simultaneously with the aid of a single cable 30 which is attached to the cable 29 between the guide rollers 31. The rope. 30 ends in a handle 21a attached to the swingable lever 4.
The mode of operation is as follows: To go up a sidewalk 32, the elevator is guided vertically against the edge of the sidewalk and as soon as the front wheel is in front of this edge, the handle 21 of the rope 20 is pressed to swing out the hook M and the plate 18 to clear, which rotates about the wheel axle 6 and moves down into the position shown in Fig. 1 in dashed lines. Now let the elevator go forward.
The wheel reaches the plate 1.3 and since its distance from the bearing eye 22, in which the axle 6 is located at this moment, is greater than the wheel diameter, the rigid rods 11 press on the clips 9, the axle 6 presses the jaws apart (Fig. 2) and lies in the cavities 28 which are located at a distance from the plate which is equal to the wheel diameter. The wheel then runs onto the pavement and the elastic rod 12 allows the plate 13 to rest well on the ground and on the sidewalk edge.
When the wheel 2 has reached the sidewalk, it continues its rotation, taking with it the plate 18, which is laid out against the wheel and, because of its corrugation, is prevented from sliding on the circumference of the wheel. This entrainment when turning. is made easier by the clamping effect of the clips 9 on the axis 6 under the action of the springs 10. The plate 1.3 passes between the legs of the fork 7 as it rotates with the wheel. But as soon as the hook 16 reaches its normal position under the action of a suitably arranged return spring, it engages in the one provided in the plate
EMI2.3
that the claw of the arm 11 moves away from the wheel and therefore the wheel axle is pushed out of the bearing eye 2.3 into the eye 22.
As a result, the plate 13 has returned to its rest position.
The moment the rear wheels. 3 to get to the edge of the sidewalk 32, the handle 21a is pressed, thereby pulling the rope. 30 exercised and through the rope 29, the bolt 28 from the catch hook. 3. 3 are triggered. The plates 24 freed in this way rotate about the axis 27 and lie in front of the wheels. As the elevator continues, the wheels rise on the plates 24. Since the rods 25 are rigid, they force the clip jaws 9 to move apart, so that the axis 27 enters the bearing eyes 2.3. The wheels now roll on the plates (FIG. 3), which rest firmly on the roadway floor and on the sidewalk edge under the action of the elastic rods 26.
As soon as the wheels have reached the pavement, the plates 24, which have a corrugated surface and are supported on these wheels, rotate with the latter. Incidentally, this movement is facilitated by the friction of the clips 9 on the axle 27. When these plates rotate, the extension 33a of the piece comes into play. 33, carried by one of the rigid rods 25 of each plate, in contact with the associated bolt 28, which has returned to its normal position because the operation of the handle 21a has ceased. This latch comes into engagement with the catch hook 33, but at the same time, due to the shape of the extension 88a, forces the plate to move in the direction of the arrow 34 (FIG. 3) and therefore to move away from the wheel.
The clips 9 diverge and the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Axis 27 resumes its position in bearing eyes 22, which then close again. The rest position is thus restored.
If you want to drive down from a sidewalk onto the roadway, the elevator is placed perpendicular to the edge of the sidewalk and the front wheel 2 is driven as close as possible to this edge. Then the plate 1.3 is unlocked, which is now on the sidewalk in front of the small wheel. The elevator is then allowed to advance so that the wheel 2 rides over the plate, which swings downwards and rests on the sidewalk edge and on the ground, since this movement is made possible by the elastic rods 12 provided.
The procedure for the rear wheels 3 is the same.
The device described can experience various structural changes; in particular, the elastic rods 12 and 26 can be designed in a different manner, e.g. B. each of these could consist of two telescoping tubes or sleeves containing a spring.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Device on patient elevators to enable the transfer from the roadway to the sidewalk with plates pivotably suspended on the wheel axles, characterized in that the arms 11, 12 and 25, 26 of the plate 13 and 24 are detachable at the ends of the axle each Rades, u. between. By means of openable clips (9) are attached so that the device can be easily attached to an existing elevator.
